Sample Issues Related to National Security
9/11 and implications for CIBERs. How can CIBERs work with area studies centers and other groups to address issues of national security and economic security? Border security and implications for international trade. National security issues are of particular concern to the Congressional Appropriations Committees. What new initiatives are needed to address the national need for Less Commonly Taught Languages (e.g., Arabic) and areas (e.g., Middle East, Central Asia)?
