Disaster Assistance Tops $116 Million for Hurricane Matthew Survivors in South Carolina
Today, Dec. 7, survivors may go to the Nichols Town Hall to see representatives from FEMA and the SBA. Specialists will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to offer tips and advice to homeowners on how to make your house stronger and safer. Other representatives will provide one-on-one assistance to survivors who have questions about flood insurance, low-interest disaster loans or disaster assistance.
Hurricane Matthew survivors have one week to register with FEMA. The last day to register with FEMA is Tuesday, Dec 13, 2016. To register, call 800-621-3362 (voice, 711 or video relay services) or 800-462-7585 (TTY). Lines are open every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. until further notice. Callers may apply for assistance, check the status of their application, update their contact info, or respond to a letter from FEMA.
Disaster Recovery Centers
A mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will make another three-day stop in Sumter County Dec. 8-10. The DRC will be located at: Cherryvale Community Center, 4340 Confederate Rd., Sumter, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday.
