Description

This course introduces software methods to design interactive web sites using forms, css, and databases. The technology being used isASP.Net. 4.0. We will be using C# as the programming language. We will use the Visual Web Developer (free download from Microsoft) as the IDE for the development of the dynamic web sites.

Expected student learning outcomes

Upon completion of this course students will be able to design customizable, interactive web sites. Skills such as allowing users to customize the web site by choosing their theme, uploading files to a server, querying a database will be practiced as part of the course. These skills will allow students to be marketable in the industry

The topics that we will attempt to discuss in ASP.Net include:

  • ASP.Net environment and VWD,

  • ASP.Net server controls,

  • CSS and its applications to web design,

  • database and data sources,

  • client side validation,

  • ajax and ASP.Net.

Grading: All assignments will be graded for functional accuracy, proper documentation via comments, on time submissions, aesthetic appeal

Assignments (12 * 5 = 60 points), quizzes  (20 points) , Final Exam – (20 points)

Grading scale:

95 - 100    A,         90 - 94        A-,      85 - 89        B+,          80 - 84       B-

75 - 79        C+,     70 - 74        C-,       60 - 69        D,           All else        F      

Notes:

1. All assignments/tests are due on the dates specified by the instructor. No late assignments will be accepted, no makeup tests unless you provide documented medical reasons.

2. An " I " grade will not be given unless, the student has completed 70% of the course work and has a documented valid reason.
