Course Objective This course seeks to analyze the role that political leaders have played in the evolution of Turkish politics, with special emphasis on their impact on the achievements and shortcomings of Turkey's experience with democratic politics.

Course Description: It examines the development of Turkish political system from the Ottoman period up to the present. Current political issues together with the concepts, ideas, personalities, institutions and events that have shaped the politics of Turkish Republic will be discussed in details.
