POSTSEASON HISTORY: This is the Patriots 11th postseason appearance. They look to advance to their 10th Championship Series RETIREMENT LOOMING: Corey Smith hit .305 this year which is 36 points higher than he did last year. He has stated this will be his final year of professional baseball. SOMERSET SLUMPING: The Patriots 3-4-5 hitters (Fox, Smith, Montanez) are a combined 7-for-49 which is a .143 BA with only two RBI. DOMO TIME: Jeff Dominguez is hitting .385 in the postseason and has a RBI in each of the last three games WRIGHT ON: Ty Wright is 8-for-16 in the postseason with 3 RBI. He hit .369 against the Barnstormers in the regular season BIG JON: Jon Hunton led the Atlantic League with 49 saves. That’s 21 more than anyone else. On August 24th he set the Atlantic League single season record for most saves in a year breaking Mike Guilfoyle’s record of 40 that was accomplished in 2003 with Bridgeport. He had more saves than Camden and Bridgeport did wins. RECORD SETTING HALF: The 47 win first half sets a franchise record for most wins in a single half. Previous mark was 46 done in 1st half of 2013. COME BACK KIDS: The Patriots have 40 come from behind victories on the season, 19 wins in their final at bat and seven walk-off wins. LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN: Somerset is 61-4 when leading after seven innings MLB EXPERIENCE: Eight players on the roster have at one point during their baseball tenure suited up for an MLB team (Jake Fox, Edwin Maysonet, David Purcey, Daryle Ward, Matt Maloney, Brian Barden, Daniel Herrera, Luis Montanez) 28 RETIRED: On June 14th, Manager Emeritus Sparky Lyle became the 1st ever Patriot to have his number retired. Lyle amassed 1,025 wins as Somerset skipper and won five AL championships. He was the first ever employee of the Somerset Patriots back in 1998.
