Drive till you drop
Test drive opportunities abound at the San Diego International Auto Show
For Immediate Release
San Diego, Cal., Dec. 11, 2017 – There are few finer auto show experiences than sliding behind the wheel of a brand new automobile and taking it for a spin. You can do just that at the San Diego International Auto Show (SDIAS), running Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017 – Monday, Jan. 1, 2018. And then you can do it again. In fact show attendees can test-drive a different new vehicle from 13 different brands as the ever-popular Test Drive feature returns. The largest five-day auto show in California, SDIAS will feature nearly a dozen separate test drive experiences providing dozens of interactive opportunities and literally hundreds of consumer test drives.
“We put great effort into engaging consumers at the show through a number of fun, educational and interactive features on the show floor,” says Kevin Leap, SDIAS show director. “Test Drives are an extension of the show, and provide tremendous opportunities for ticket holders to comparison shop by actually driving new vehicles, while learning about their features and technology from professional product specialists.”
At the 2018 edition of the SDIAS, Test Drive will be located along the front drive of the San Diego Convention Center; in the waterfront lot to the rear of the Convention Center; and, in the case of Camp Jeep, inside the center itself. All Fiat Chrysler brand Test Drives will be at one location.
On tap are Test Drives for Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, Jeep, Kia, Mazda, Nissan, Ram, Subaru, Toyota and Volkswagen. Camp Jeep, the only indoor drive event (professional drivers operate vehicles for passengers over an extreme course) returns for its ninth consecutive year with an incredible test course mimicking an extreme off-road adventure.
Consumers will be able to experience nearly every type of vehicle on the market today, including cars, trucks, SUVs, minivans, crossovers, hybrids, and even electric vehicles. Signage will be posted throughout the convention center directing show attendees to the various Test Drives. Hours vary, and can be found at SDautoshow.com.
Ticketed show attendees typically must meet age requirements and have a current driver’s license to participate in Test Drives. There is no additional fee to participate, but those interested should visit the specific event areas for more information and explanation of program rules. Trained product specialists accompany drivers, and each Test Drive takes about 15 minutes.
