Sophistication with a splash of the wild side at the San Diego International Auto Show
From the stately to the high-end exotic,
the San Diego International Auto Show has it all, and more
For Immediate Release
San Diego, Cal., Dec. 13, 2016 – Sure, there are the 600-plus vehicles on the show floor that you can actually buy from your local dealership after the show, but then there are those vehicles that might be a tad out of reach for the average Joe. The San Diego International Auto Show (SDIAS), running from Dec. 29 – Jan. 2 at the San Diego Convention Center presents them in all their exotic and stately glory for you to feed your fantasies.
As a transportation event, the SDIAS is constantly on the look out for special vehicles and that can be featured alongside the offerings of the global auto manufacturers. This year will be no exception, as the show will present a wide variety of some the most exclusive, customized and, well, different vehicles on the road today.
Kicking it off is the Wawanesa Exotics Vault. The SDIAS is dedicating 15,000 square feet to this remarkable exhibit made possible by Wawanesa Insurance that will feature some of the most iconic luxury sports cars. Ferrari-Maserati of San Diego will display many of the latest examples of Italian style and performance, while legendary British marques Aston Martin, from Aston Martin San Diego, and Lotus from Lotus of San Diego will be on display. Plus, unique exotics like the $1.1 million Youabian Puma and gold-wrapped Lamborghinis will stop show-goers in their tracks.
Going from wild to stately, the Rolls Royce Owners Club, a group of Bentley and Rolls Royce owners and enthusiasts, will be loaning some of their vehicles for display at the show. Vehicles could range from 1920 models up to 1970 models, highlighting the evolution of one of the most storied automobile brands.
--Continued--
Low and slow, the term brought back into the modern lexicon in the movie “Cars” describes perfectly the exhibit of Low Riders that will be on display at the SDIAS. The Low Rider was and continues to be a cultural phenomenon with roots in Southern California, going back as early as the late 1940s and early ‘50s. The modern Low Riders have crossed cultural boundaries, and can be seen across the country as examples of self-expression through the automobile.
Finally, there are some folks out there that just can’t leave things the way they came from the dealer. The aftermarket industry, as it’s known, is a multi-million dollar industry as popular with the “tuner” crowd (think SEMA) as it is with globe-trotters in their specialty RVs that can go off the grid for months at a time. The SDIAS has assembled a wide variety of these must-see vehicles from all over California and beyond for a special Feature Vehicle display.
