June 16, 2010 Atlanta VA Medical Center to hold third annual Welcome Home Celebration for Veterans at Turner Field The Atlanta VA Medical Center will host its third annual Welcome Home Celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday, June 27, at Turner Field. The celebration, open to military members of all branches who have returned from deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq during the past 12 months, will include live music and food, followed by free admission to the Atlanta Braves vs Detroit Tigers game at 1:30 p.m. Family members of these veterans are also invited to attend the event. The purpose of the Welcome Home celebration is twofold - to thank Veterans for their selfless service and to provide information on the benefits they have earned. "I admire all of our Veterans, especially our OEF/OIF Veterans and their family members who have given so much for the protection of others," Kerry Traviss, Atlanta VA Medical Center OEF/OIF Program Manager said. "We are looking forward to a day of fun, food and festivities as we thank our Veterans for their service," Traviss added.
