The course has a twofold objective. On the one hand it aims at giving students the basic tools necessary to understand the interdependence existing between the energy and economic system as a whole, integrating economic with technical and institutional details, with particular reference to demand, energy production costs, the actual working of the international market for primary goods and finally the regulation and liberalization trends of the internal market for energy sources (electricity and gas). On the other hand the course aims at deepening students’ knowledge of the practical and operating aspects of some theoretical concepts concerning the economic working of the energy system.Understanding the foundation of Energy Economics and social energy concepts implication on consumer choices, firms, regulators, energy importer/exporter countries, as well as integrating the economic aspects with technical and institutional features.
