FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 16, 2011 FOX Sports South and SportSouth to Produce 151 Atlanta Braves Games during 2011 MLB Regular Season 79 Games on SportSouth, 27 on FOX Sports South and 45 to appear on Peachtree TV Spring Training Coverage Begins March 27 @ 1 p.m. ET on FOX Sports South vs. Phillies For the first time ever, FOX Sports South and SportSouth will produce a combined 151 Atlanta Braves games during the 2011 Major League Baseball regular season, with all games scheduled to be televised in high definition. The 151-game schedule includes 45 games previously produced by Peachtree TV (WPCH-TV). Last month, FOX Sports South announced an agreement with Turner Broadcasting to produce Peachtree TV’s Braves telecasts, which will remain on Peachtree TV in the Atlanta metro area. FOX Sports South will distribute the Peachtree TV games outside of the Atlanta metro area. Also as a result of FOX Sport South’s agreement with Turner, FOX Sports South became the exclusive advertising sales agent for all locally televised Braves games. The Braves open the regular season on SportSouth when they visit the Washington Nationals on Thursday, March 31 at 1 p.m. ET in the first of 79 games scheduled to be televised on the network. The 27-game FOX Sports South schedule includes 24 Sunday Braves on FOX Sports South games, plus three weeknight contests. The Braves home opener against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET leads off the 45-game schedule on Peachtree TV. In addition to its 151-game regular-season package, FOX Sports South and SportSouth will televise four Spring Training games, including two exhibition games live from Turner Field. Play-by-play announcer Chip Caray and analyst Joe Simpson partner for their second season in the FOX Sports South and SportSouth broadcast booth. Caray enters his ninth season calling Braves games, while Simpson returns for his twentieth. Braves LIVE, the only 30-minute pre-game and expanded post-game show for game telecasts on both FOX Sports South and SportSouth, returns for the 2011 season. Host Fred Hickman will be joined by analysts and former Braves standouts Ron Gant and Brian Jordan and reporter Jerome Jurenovich. The broadcast team for the 45 Peachtree TV games will be announced at a later date. “2011 begins a new chapter in Braves baseball history on the field led by Fredi Gonzalez and in the more than nine million homes across six states that receive the local Braves game telecasts,” said Jeff Genthner, senior vice president of FOX Sports South and SportSouth. “For the first time ever, FOX Sports South will solely manage the production and advertising sales for all locally televised Atlanta Braves game telecasts. And through FOX Sports South and SportSouth, Braves fans will receive the most comprehensive game coverage with Braves LIVE, the only dedicated pre- and post-game coverage, plus Braves-themed original programs and exclusive behind-the-scenes content and access on FOXSportsSouth.com.”
Combined, the FOX Sports South, SportSouth and Peachtree TV Braves regular-season schedule includes 75 games from Turner Field and 76 road contests. National League East opponents are featured in 67 games and all 2010 National League playoff teams are represented, including six games featuring a rematch of the Braves’ 2010 NL Division Series against the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants. The schedule also includes inter-league games against the Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays.
