France Atlanta adds French flavor to this year’s elevate arts festival

“We are delighted to partner with France Atlanta to bring in some incredible French artists to participate in ELEVATE this year,” says Camille Russell Love, Executive Director of the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs. “Our free, contemporary arts festival will be even more special this year with their talents. Help us give a warm welcome to artist Joanie Lemercier, dancers Association Manifeste, and street performers La Passante when they join us for ELEVATE in downtown Atlanta from October 17-23.”

  Tessalated & Light Canvas at Gallery 72 from October 17-23 from 8 am to 6 pm. The gallery is located at 2 City Plaza, 72 Marietta Street, Atlanta, GA 30303.

  Tessalated Atlanta at 55 Marietta Street during a special night-time projection on October 21 from 7:30-9 pm. ELEVATES Eats, a special promotion with “light bites” sponsored by Central Atlanta Progress, will be available at Gallery 72 during this event.

  Lemercier Artist Talk at Gallery 72 on October 22 from Noon to 1 pm.
  

The Toulouse-based contemporary dance company Association Manifeste returns to Atlanta with the second chapter of their creative series, "Point of view on the Street Corner: The American Corner.” Dancers Isabelle Saulle and Adolfo Vargas present an evocative and vibrant vision of American streets through the eyes of world travelers. They show different perspectives of two distinct realities within the same space: an easily identifiable and tangible world which offers a stark contrast to a virtual one, unknown to the audience. See them perform on both October 18 and October 19 at 7 pm in front of the Healey Building, at the Corner of Forsyth & Poplar Street.

For an extra treat, there’s even a night of French films. Silent film aficionados know Max Linder as the French actor and director largely responsible for creating the classic style of slapstick comedy. If you are a fan of Chaplin and Keaton, check out Linder’s work when ELEVATE presents eight of his short comedic films on October 19 in Woodruff Park beginning at 7 pm. Bring a picnic basket, and friend or a date for a fun night out!
