Getting To Know a Canadian Ecozone
Now that we have looked some of the various aspects that make up our Ecozones, it’s time to show off your research skills by choosing one of Canada’s beautiful ecozones to showcase. In order to do justice to this unique ecozone you will be creating a Hall of Fame Trading Card that will showcase the unique features of the ecozone and provide important information into the physical and human components of the region.
STEPS
Complete the “Ecozones in Canada” worksheet using pp. 30-31 of your textbook.
Choose an ecozone to research from the following list:
Pacific Maritime Ecozone – pp. 32-35
The Boreal Shield Ecozone –pp. 36-39
The Mixedwood Plain Ecozone – pp. 40-43
The Atlantic Maritime Ecozone – pp. 44-47
The Northern Arctic Ecozone – pp. 48-51
Complete the “Researching Your Ecozone” worksheet using the appropriate pages from your textbook. You will be looking at both the Natural Environment and Human Connections of that ecozone. This will be the first round of research that will be completed.
Conduct further internet research on your ecozone.
Create your Hall of Fame Trading Card. The front will be all visuals with a title and catchy slogan.
Complete the ecozone write-up on the back of your trading card.
Prepare a 5-10 minute presentation that will highlight the important and unique aspects of your ecozone.
ASSIGNMENT ELEMENTS
Information on the FRONT of your Trading Card:
The front of your trading card will be in the form of a collage. You will find pictures which can be used to illustrate the appearance of your ecozone. You will later use this visual for your presentation. Make sure to copy and paste each picture into a Word Document and save it to your G: Drive and take note of the book/website to give credit to its author.

The back of your Trading Card will include the information you have obtained through your research. When the person reads this information the images on the front will be explained and the viewer will know what your ecozone is all about and its importance in Canada.

What type of natural resources can be found in your ecozone? What is their importance? (think about the amount of money made from them, number of people working in that industry, etc.)

At least two other details (interesting facts).
