GIM Jobs - Québec Hi everyone, Attached is the July 2017 GIM PEM list in Québec, which many of you have already seen, published by the Québec Ministry of Health and Social Services (Ministère de santé et de services sociaux). I’ve also provided a summary below of the different hospitals with GIM PEMs and links to their websites (organized by Québec administrative regions). This information is complementary to the Rest of Canada GIM job information I sent to you earlier this academic year. For Québec regional hospitals, there is often a hiring person/headhunter whom you can contact. You may in fact have already met them face to face at the annual Journée Carrière Québec (which was on October 21st 2016). If you need help contacting GIM specialists in these centres, let me know and I can maybe help: the ASMIQ is a very useful resource. Of course, some of these may already be promised to someone (PEM contract signed). There is no way of knowing other than by calling the hospital to check if the position is still open. http://www.chrr.qc.ca Largest town in the Bas-Saint-Laurent (70K inhabitants, with a population basin of 200K), Rimouski is a vibrant university town (UQÀR) on the south shore of the St-Laurent halfway between Québec and Gaspé. Rimouski Hospital has a young, dynamic group of 3 internists and a great work-life balance for those who love the outdoors (including wonderful Québec maritime opportunities and beautiful sunsets). Very close to the Parc du Bic (http://www.sepaq.com/pq/bic/), the Jardins de Métis/Refort Gardens (http://www.refordgardens.com/english/), and the Mont-Joli airport (direct Air Canada to Montréal). 1 GIM PEM in July 2017

Hôpital de La Malbaie et Hôpital de Baie-Saint-Paul (2 hospitals, 50 km apart) http://batirensemble.cssscharlevoix.qc.ca Halfway between Québec and Tadoussac on the north shore of the Saint-Laurent. Extremely beautiful region which had painters coming up from the USA in droves at the turn of the 20th century to capture its gorgeous scenery and light. Val-d’Or is a regional centre in Abitibi: it is the main referral centre for the Baie James and has a solid technical platform. Dre Suzanne Dubé has been going up there for locums for many years. Affiliated with McGill, so lots of teaching opportunities with medical students and family medicine residents. 1 GIM PEM currently open Côte-Nord Hôpital de Sept-Îles http://www.cssssi.qc.ca Regional centre with a solid technical platform. Last big town along the north shore (unless you count Hâvre-Saint-Pierre!). Many schools, including an Anglophone elementary and high school. 1 GIM PEM currently open Hôpital Le Royer (Baie-Comeau) http://www.cssshcnmanic.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=13&Itemid=45 Baie-Comeau is the regional centre for the Manicouagan region. About halfway between Tadoussac and Sept-Îles along the north shore of the Saint-Laurent. This is an accredited CHIME site for McGill core IM residents. The GIM practice here is stimulating, varied, dynamic and the colleagues are great. (I’m a bit biased, as my 2 first years of practice were here and I loved it so much I continued doing locums for 6 years! Beautiful boreal forest landscapes along the St-Laurent’s rugged north shore escarpment: breathtaking views and wonderful whale watching. Airport with direct connection to Montréal. 1 GIM PEM currently open

About 40 minutes (sans traffic) by car from the RVH-Glen, about 20 km from Brossard. Easy access to Dix30.
