Quincuncial piles club
Our league is a sports organization. Members are trained 4 days a week, usually in evening. We commit ourselves on Chinese traditional kongfu, not only train our body skill but our thought as well.
The Chinese name of the very kongfu we focus on is MeiHuaZhuang. It was popular about 2 centuries ago in China. Now the method our league members train is a perfect system. It is designed by a great master of the kongfu field Yan Zijie. Mr Yan is a university teacher in Shandong and he has taught his students kongfu for nearly half a century. Every weekend our members in Fudan go to different universities to communicate with other kongfu lovers, of course we all MeiHuazhuang lovers and learners.
The main task of our members is obviously training ourselves. But it's not everything, sometimes we also take part in some other performances, independently or cooperate with other leagues.
Fudan Electronic Sports Association
Fudan Electronic Sports Association (founded in 2005) is currently the only official E-Sport organization in the Fudan University. We aim to promote the positive competition and encourage the whole development of E-Sports on campus. We are also the banner of the similar communities in Colleges. Usually, we provide scientific trainings for our members once a week. In each semester, we hold events on campus such as FEG, FGL and FDG. Fortunately, these events are popular with the students. We also gain the experience from operation. Furthermore, the association has established a good reputation among the college students.
Fudan Kendo Club
Fudan Kendo Club was founded as a student association in 2007.
Kendo, meaning "Way of the Sword", is a modern Japanese martial art of sword-fighting based on traditional samurai swordsmanship, or kenjutsu (sword arts). Kendo is a physically and mentally challenging activity that combines strong martial arts values with sport-like physical elements.
In modern kendo, the kenshi (the man who practises kendo) use both Bokken (wooden sword) and shinai (bamboo sword) in training. They also use bogu (protective equipment) to protect themselves in Keiko (confrontational exercises) so that kendo could become a sport of safety.
Now we have training in the gym of Fudan University twice a week. If you want to acquire the ability to face a fierce combat, and a preliminary understanding of this eastern mystery tradition, welcome to join us!
The Fudan Community of Parkour is founded in 2009.Though it is a community without a long history or many traditions, it is still a very formal community. There is a core team of 10 students and about 20 regular members.
Our tutors are the undergraduates of senior grades or those who have already graduated from our university. They both have practiced Parkour for a rather long time, and have become real experts. The training will be designed according to one’s physical conditions and abilities. The tutors know a lot about how to improve one’s strength, skill and most importantly, courage. Our members come here to strengthen themselves mentally as well as physically.
The training time is every Friday evening, from 19:00 to 21:00. We practice in the indoor track of our university. The training place is safe enough because the track is not so hard as the ground outside. And of more importance, the room is equipped with essential facilities such as cushions.
However, so modern this France-originated sport is that many students are not familiar with it. When we want to attract more people and encourage them to join in, they may think this activity is too dangerous or too hard for them, especially the girls. Actually, everyone can make great progress in a short time as long as he or she is brave enough to try. In order to make it less mysterious, we do something pretentious outside in addition to the regular training every week on Friday evening. That is really cool! As a result, more and more students are fascinated by this eye-catching sport and are willing to join in. This year, we even receive some applications from students from the International Department.
Though practicing Parkour may hurt oneself indeed, one could still love this game deeply. Only by defeating one’s fear of being hurt can one get improvement and find it exciting. As long as you get into this game, it is hard to go without it. Doing this really makes one feel different and outstanding. This is exactly the same with escalading or Bungee. So, dare it or not?
