In The Window
A Dark Comedy by Nuala McKeever
Date: Sat 15 Feb
Time: 8pm
Cost: £12
Life hasn’t turned out the way Margaret dreamed it would. She’s not a Charlie’s Angel living in sunny California. She’s lonely as hell in a house that won’t sell, with no husband, no kids and a boring job that’s not worth living for. Something’s got to give. So tonight, she’s put on her lipstick, left a note for the cleaner and she’s got a home date with a bottle of wine and a big bowl of pink pills.
However Margaret hasn’t reckoned on the sudden appearance of Chris, a desperate young man, who has just come in the kitchen window, with what looks like a gun in his pocket. And he’s definitely not pleased to see her.
Throw in a match-making, nosy neighbour, a sexy policeman and a series of little white lies and this black comedy delivers a cocktail of humour and disaster that’s just to die for.
Northern Ireland’s Queen of Comedy does it again with a new one woman show about the resilience of the human heart in the face of ...well, just about everything that can go wrong in our crazy modern lives.
Contains some strong language and adult themes. Over 16s.

They have since developed their unique style mixing American swing, French popular music and Eastern European traditional
Gypsy music and delighted audiences from Belfast to London.
Following their triumphant appearance at the latest Cloughtoberfest, Ireland’sGypsy Jazz festival in Cloughjordan, where they shared the programme with Frank Vignola and Olli Soikkeli, Manouche brings their very impressive range of melodies, improvisations and techniques to the ISLAND.

Call Mr Robeson - A life, with songs
Date: Fri 30 May
Time: 8pm
Cost: £14/£12 con
Written and Performed by Tayo Aluko with live piano accompaniment
Directed by Olusola Oyeleye
Designed by Phil Newman
Paul Robeson is a great and famous actor, singer and civil rights campaigner. When he gets too radical and outspoken for the establishment’s liking, he is branded a traitor to his country, is harassed, and denied opportunities to perform or travel.
This rollercoaster journey through Robeson’s remarkable life highlights how his activism caused him to be disowned and disremembered, even by leaders and descendants of the civil rights movement. It features some famous songs, including a dramatic rendition of Ol’ Man River, speeches, and a spectacularly defiant testimony to the Senate House Un-American Activities Committee.
One of the 20th Century’s most impressive but overlooked figures is revived in this powerful, compelling tour-de-force performance, performed at New York’s Carnegie Hall in February 2012 and in London’s West End in October 2013.
