Medical Education Day 2016 Call for Abstracts
Event: The Emory University School of Medicine is pleased to celebrate its 3rd Annual Medical Education Day on Monday, March 21, 2016 from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the Williams School of Medicine Building on the Emory University main campus (100 Woodruff Circle, Atlanta, GA). This event is open to invited guests from local and regional healthcare training programs and to faculty and staff in all of Emory’s Woodruff Health Sciences Center programs.
The Medical Education Day program will commence at noon with a keynote address from Thomas Nasca, MD, MACP, Chief Executive Officer of the ACGME.
There will be no cost to attend and lunch will be provided for all pre-registrants.
More details and registration are at: www.med.emory.edu/education/med_ed_day_2016.html
Theme: Educational Innovations to Improve Transitions throughout Medical Education.
Call: Following Dr. Nasca’s presentation, the breakout activities for the remainder of the afternoon will be devoted to expediting interactions across the various schools and programs. The formats for the breakout sessions are intended to facilitate sharing of successes or caveats and learning from each other’s experiences. Attendees will learn about various innovations that facilitate and support student transitions throughout the medical education pipeline – from civilian to healthcare student, from student to resident, and from student or resident into practice.
Session types include: panel discussions, discussion groups, workshops

Participant roles: panel discussion participant, discussion group leader, workshop presenter
NOTE: a unique feature of this event is that the program committee will group submissions into sessions by themes. The session formats will be determined by the number and content of abstracts submitted. Individual authors are encouraged to submit an abstract; submission will be grouped thematically to create a session in one of the formats described above. Sessions will emphasize discussion and application led by the authors of the abstracts assigned to that session. Interaction with and among the audience will be expected.
This call is an invitation for individuals or groups to submit an abstract describing an innovation used at your institution to facilitate transitions. The abstract should be less than 500 words in length (excluding author information) and include the following elements:
