1. Purpose

This guide contains a best-practices breakdown of how to configure and install the absVision product on a Windows 10 environment, including mapping and network configurations that we know to be optimal for our program’s functionality. Contained herein are two separate installation paths, determined by which version of the absVision environment setup you will be using.
If you are unsure of which installation path to follow, or if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our Support Department at 800-727-7534 (Option 1), via email at supportservices@alliedbiz.com, or through our Live Chat feature at www.alliedbiz.com.

2. Working With the Local Administrator Account

Steps in this guide will frequently refer to logging in as your Local Administrator in order to perform certain actions. The Local Administrator Windows profile is not the same thing as being logged in to a user that has Administrator rights.
The true Local Administrator profile is a special Windows profile that has full access and rights to all aspects of the operating system. If you are using the traditional absVision setup in Windows 10, your initial install and all updates will need to be run from this profile.
Because of the access it provides, the Local Administrator account is not necessarily active by default on your Windows machine.
To activate the Local Administrator profile:

  1. Click your Windows Start button in the bottom left corner

  2. In the search bar, type CMD and wait for the search results to appear

  3. Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator

  4. Type in: net user administrator /active:yes

If activating for the first time, it is recommended that you set a password:

  1. While still in the command window, type in: net user administrator *

  2. A password prompt will display; type in your desired password, then confirm it

Once the installation of absVision is complete, you may wish to disable the account:

  1. Click your Windows Start button in the bottom left corner

  2. In the search bar, type CMD and wait for the search results to appear

  3. Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator

  4. Type in: net user administrator /active:no
