Music: Count Us In
We also invite you to attend the following event on the same day:
Music: Count Us In Celebration Day Event and Function
12pm, Thu 2 November, Deakin Edge, Federation Square
This is the annual culmination for our national school music program. Students from schools all around the country will join a live streamed event with performances, live crosses, and special events, as we celebrate Music: Count Us In’s annual culmination. The event runs 12-12.30pm.

We are calling for nominations for positions of Councillors and Board Directors for election at the AGM. In preparation:

Constitution
At the 2017 AGM a revised constitution was adopted. After over twenty years it was time to update this document with current law, and adopt some changes to increase flexibility and inclusiveness. The revised constitution is on our website here, and a handy summary is here.
Councillors and Advisory Groups meeting
We take this opportunity to hold an annual joint meeting of our Councillors and Advisory groups. This is a chance to provide short updates on activities and share key sector information.
Councillor and Board Positions and Nominations
Nominations are invited, on the forms below, for:
Appointment as Music Australia Councillors, and
Election to the Board of Directors
Nominations for appointment as Councillors are accepted at any time.
Nominations for election to the Board will be accepted up to 9.30am Thu 2 November.
All nominations should be sent to the CEO at office@musicaustralia.org.au or delivered in person to the Music Australia office in Erskineville, Sydney.
The board elections will be at the AGM commencing at 3pm on Thu 2 November 2017.
If you will not be present, you may appoint a proxy, using the form below. You will be informed of the list of nominees to Council positions as soon as possible after Fri 27 October. You will be able to know Board nominees only by your presence at the AGM or direct communication with your proxy on the day of the AGM. The Returning Officer will be Chris Bowen.

ELECTION TO THE BOARD
There are seven Board positions filled, with five falling vacant in 2017. Two of these were casual appointments made by the Board in 2017 until the AGM. All are eligible to renominate for a three-year term. There are two board vacancies. Nominations are invited to fill all vacancies.

PROCEDURE
All candidates standing unopposed are declared elected. There will be a secret ballot for election to positions for which there is more than one candidate.
APPOINTMENT TO THE COUNCIL
There is a Council of Music Australia. The role of the Council is to advise and assist the Directors implement the Objects of the Company.
Councillors are appointed by invitation of the Board on the basis of criteria in the Constitution
Councillors are appointed for renewable terms of 3 years.
Councillors are drawn from the ranks of Representative Members, both Organisational and Individual, to provide a balanced Council representative of Australian music
Generally, a Representative Member will be entitled to provide a nominee to be appointed as Councillor
Representative Organisational Members represent a national music constituency; Representative Individual Members represent a specified field of music. The Constitution contains detailed definitions and criteria.
Representative Members have voting rights at General meetings of the Company.

VACANT COUNCILLOR POSITIONS - NOMINATIONS INVITED
Councillor positions currently vacant or concluding in 2017 are open to nomination regardless of whether an incumbent is standing. The new term of office begins immediately after approval by the Board and continues for three years.
It has been Music Australia practice to invite nominations for a third term only to those Councillors who in the Board’s opinion have made, and are likely to continue to make, a significant contribution to the organisation.
