NETCOMM MYZONE AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY IN APPLE RETAIL STORES
Sydney, May 31 NetComm Limited (ASX: NTC) a leading global developer of broadband technology today announces the launch of its NetComm MyZone available at Apple Retail Stores from 31 May.
The MyZone is a Mobile 3G WiFi Router positioned between a 3G USB Modem and a 3G Router. Similar to a 3G USB Modem, the MyZone is compact and portable yet has the ability to connect multiple devices, combining the best of both worlds into one unit.
As well as Apple’s iPad, the MyZone can support up to ten wireless devices concurrently such as notebooks, smartphones, cameras and gaming consoles. Its integrated lithium-ion battery delivers power for up to six hours of operation and 40 hours whilst idle. It allows users to charge via the included micro USB cable while maintaining its WiFi signal.
The MyZone can be purchased outright for $299 without being locked to a contract. Connecting to the Internet is achieved by using either your current 3G data SIM card or purchasing a pre-paid or post-paid SIM card and inserting it into the MyZone. Compatible with all Australian 3G networks* and approximately 150 global 3G networks, users can move their Internet connection anywhere there is mobile network coverage.
Compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems, the MyZone delivers download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps and upload speeds of 5.76Mbps for large file transfers. The device also offers users an intuitive user interface, enabling non-technical users to easily set up and configure their MyZone.
The MyZone platform supports 3G Tri-band 850MHz, 1900MHz, and 2100MHz for local and international services.
NetComm’s Managing Director, David Stewart says NetComm is very excited about introducing this new 3G mobile broadband product category into the Australian marketplace.
“In addition to its performance and lightweight design, a key feature of the MyZone is its superior battery life. Battery life is important, whether you are a business or consumer. We have therefore concentrated development around maximising battery life”.
“Another important feature we addressed is user experience. NetComm has focused on developing a simple user interface for ease of use. The MyZone employs NetComm’s “Smart Connect” technology that preloads the MyZone with carrier connection information, meaning customers can connect to their 3G network with minimal configuration.”
The MyZone will be available at Apple stores for an exclusive period, and will also be available on Apple’s online store in Australia. Accessories to the MyZone will also be made available such as the MyZone Car Kit.
