News Release Incident: Child Abuse

Date of Print: 04/02/2012

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to the AtlantiCare Regional Hospital, City Campus, during the late hours of March 10, 2012. The Atlantic City Police Department was notified by medical staff at the hospital of suspicious injuries sustained to two twin infant girls that were just brought in to the hospital. The infants were reported to be 11 weeks old and both had sustained unexplained severe injuries. One infant was immediately flown from the AtlantiCare Regional Hospital to Cooper Hospital in Camden for life threatening injuries that included a traumatic head injury, fractured arm and multiple bruises and abrasions. The other infant was also transported to Cooper Hospital but was able to be transported via ambulance with only moderate injuries that included multiple bruises, abrasions and an unspecified neck injury. The mother of the infants was identified as Adriana Thomas, 23 years of age from Egg Harbor Township, who was interviewed by Detectives from Egg Harbor Township Police Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office. The reported father of the infants was later identified as Lamar Lisbon, 28 years of age formerly of Brigantine, and also interviewed. Neither Thomas nor Lisbon would provide information on the circumstances of the injuries.
Upon further investigation through joint efforts of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office, New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services, and various medical facilities, arrests were made implicating Thomas and Lisbon for direct involvement in the reported incident and both were criminally charged with two counts of second degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child and two counts of fourth degree Child Neglect. Thomas and Lisbon are lodged at the Atlantic County Justice Facility in Mays Landing on $75,000 and $150,000 cash bail respectively.
