I have a friend that is part Dutch American from Bedford, New York, and he grew up in the house that Kerry Kennedy now owns next to Helen Clay Frick's property. He once told me that the Vanderbilt family that own the Breakers in Newport, Rhode Island also have a home in South Salem, New York which has dirt roads, but they probably have homes elsewhere such as Vanderbilt Museum and http://www.biltmore.com/ , and since Anderson Cooper's mother Gloria is a Vanderbilt, his home west of Washington Square in Greenwich Village would be considered a Vanderbilt property, and I think possibly one of the homes were the Ralph Lauren store is on the Upper East Side might have been a Vanderbilt residence, or one of the other homes in that neighborhood that they tore down. They also used to have a house in Palm Beach, but whether they still own it or not is opened to speculation. The last time I chatted with Fred Von Mierers around 1988, he told me he was working for Mrs. Vanderbilt at the Breakers in Newport, Rhode Island, so possibly if he should be still alive, he is working for them elsewhere in the world. I think they also had a nice home in England, since they had relatives there as they also had relatives in Spain. CIO
