Explanatory notes 1 The term networked Computer Application software refers to multi-user software operated by or on behalf of end-users rather than the computer system itself, e.g. general ledger, personnel, inventory systems, running on a local area network. 2 Performance of all outcomes is to be carried out in accordance with organisation standards and procedures, unless otherwise stated. Organisation standards and procedures may cover: quality assurance, documentation, security, communication, health and safety, and personal behaviour. An example of the standards expected is the standards found in ISO 9000 Certified Organisations. 3 Performance of all outcomes is to be completed within the normal range of time that would be expected in a professional environment, e.g. in a commercial or government organisation. 4 Performance of all outcomes is to be within the normal range of cost, or cost estimate, that would be expected in a commercial environment. 5 Performance of all outcomes complies with the laws of New Zealand, especially with regard to copyright, privacy, health and safety, and consumer rights. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Plan the installation of networked computer application software. Evidence requirements 1.1 A review of the networked application specification identifies and explains the feasibility of the specification. 1.2 The plan specifies milestones, and estimates the time and resources required for installation. 1.3 The plan ensures that the installation is scheduled to minimise disruption to the users. 1.4 An analysis of risk identifies the tasks in the plan vulnerable to standard risks, and assesses the probability and impact of those risks. 1.5 A risk management plan identifies measures to be taken to minimise risk, and the contingency measures to be adopted in the event of a risk manifesting itself. 1.6 A review procedure is adopted which ensures the final outcome meets user requirements. Outcome 2 Install networked computer application software. Evidence requirements 2.1 The software operates according to the publisher’s specifications. 2.2 The software is configured and customised according to the installation specification. 2.3 The software operates according to the installation specification. 2.4 The pre-installation environment is restored in the event of an unsuccessful installation. Outcome 3 Test the installation of networked computer application software. Evidence requirements 3.1 The software operates according to the publisher’s and installation specification. 3.2 The testing procedure meets the publisher’s guidelines. 3.3 The test results are recorded according to organisation specifications. Outcome 4 Gain user acceptance for the installation of networked computer application software. Evidence requirements 4.1 An explanation of the publisher’s supplied operating procedures allows the user to begin operating the network application. 4.2 An explanation of training and support options allows the user to obtain training and support. 4.3 A review of the installation and installation specification allows the user to judge that the installation has been completed. 4.4 Documentation is completed according to the publisher’s and organisation requirements.
