Context of use (aim)
|

Scenario(s)
|
While at home, the user plans a multimodal trip (A3.1) for shopping to a nearby town, and uses the Shopping assistant (SP2-9, SP2-10, SP2-11, SP2-14). He/she acquires short range trip info (SP3-5) and info on specific stations and hubs (SP3-6). Upon arrival at the city, he/she uses the pedestrian guidance (SP3-13 - SP3-20) to get to the shop on foot. A sudden illness requires the use of the alerting and assisting applications (SP2-54 - SP2-56).

System output
|
Presentation of the best alternative routes in a textual format and on a map if requested.
Generation of a shopping list (either printed or on the mobile device) and allows the user to update it.
Presentation to the user the selected line/stop timetable.
The actual position of the user is shown on the trip (default in a map) – optional (user may disable it). Relevant POI’s (requested when planning the trip or according to his/her own profile) are shown en route. Pushed information on interesting POIs or service disruption (upon user request) is possible. The system allows the user to store, view, modify, annotate or delete a route. The system provides in a map the user’s position and progressively builds the route, showing en route selected POI’s (either requested by the user or according to his/her dynamic profile). The system draws alternative safe, calm and/or scenic routes to the specific POI from the start point.
The system detects a sudden health problem of the users, thus it alerts him/her and contacts the emergency centre and the relatives.

Success parameters
|
Transport information
|
Timetables should be correct, so accuracy is crucial. The system successfully contacts the local PT transport information provider and returns information to the user within 5 min.
|
Route guidance
|
Follow-up of user and provide point-by-point guidance until (elderly) user reaches destination. If signal is lost the system tries continuously to find user location and recalculate route. If the user deviates from route, automatic route recalculation, using the same criteria of elderly-friendliness. Return of alternative route to user within 5 min.
|
Health monitoring
|
On-time and accurate health problem detection.
Quick and efficient communication with hospital/relatives.

Interaction level
|
Step 1: the user plans a trip at a near city and inserts relevant details (destination).
Step 2: the system asks the user whether to use the bookmarked routing options or to insert manually the following preferences:
-
Mean of transport (PT, car, pedestrian)
-
Arrival/starting time
-
Route optimization type (shortest, fastest, calmest)
-
Maximum walking distance
-
Maximum number of changes
Step 3: the user stores a route.
Step 4: the user asks for info on stations/hubs
Step 5: the system provides correct info for the appropriate stations/hubs.
Step 6: the user requests the shopping list, both printed and downloaded at his/her personal mobile device.
Step 7: the system gives to the user the shopping list
Step 8: the user wants to update the list, as he/she has bought already some of its contents.
Step 9: the system updates the shopping list accordingly.
Step 10: the user requests to be guided on the planned route / trip.
Step 11: The system provides to the user his/her current location on map and informs him/her that he/she is being monitored. As he/she moves, it shows his/her movements on the map
Step 12: the system provides the user with pulled / pushed info on POI’s / services en route if he/she asked for them in his/her user profile).
Step 13: the user pauses or stops the UC. If he/she pauses it, it may be re-activated later.
Step 14: The system detects an health problem and alerts the user but also communicates with the relatives and emergency centre.

Yes:
static parameters: static user profile
semi-dynamic parameters: type of user
dynamic parameters: user preferences on POI’s/ Services en route
environmental parameters/context of use: the route can be re-planned after receiving short range trip information.

-
Potential input needed from other UCs (what input and which UCs?)
|
User location needed from UC SP3-16 “Find current location” if the user is outdoors.
Bookmarked POIs or places should be available from UC SP3-18 “Bookmark POI”.
The destination/current position has to be provided to the service centre to initiate a parking search.
