Of the regular meeting of the Cape Atlantic Detachment Marine Corp League held in post home, Great Creek Road Oceanville NJ capeatlanticmcl.org
Opening Ceremony: Meeting started at 1930hours on May 13thth (by ritual), members in attendance 28.
Recognition of Dignitaries: Northeast Division aide-de-camp Phil Uecker, and 5th District Vice Commandant Charles Fields.
Roll Call of Officers: All present or accounted for
Minutes of Previous Meeting: Minutes Accepted, Motion: by Phil Uecker, Second: Richard Tuthill: Vote was Approved.
Report of Paymaster: Report was passed out to members. Report was approved as read with no corrections or changes.
Application for membership: None:
Correspondence: MCL Auxillary is holding a Spring fund raiser, tickets are 1 for $5.00 or 6 for $20.00. The John Bassilone parade committee is asking any Detachment who is going to participate in the parade on September 26th to let them know. The Detachment received a Thank you letter from the Egg Harbor Township Community Center thanking us for our Toys for Tots help.
Sick or Distressed: Commandant Ed O’Flynn thanked everyone who came out to pay honors to Marine Don Huber at his funeral. This has prompted a way to get in touch with all members on short notice. (See new Business)
Officers Reports: The News letter will end in July, and we will be only sending out Post cards of the coming events to members who do not have E-mail Addresses. The full News Letter will still be Available by E-Mail and on our web site capeatlanticmcl.org
House/Building: June 11th is Cape Atlantics 15th Anniversary, The insulation for the roof is in and waiting to be installed. Frank the builder has been notified about the steps. Marine Louis Fusco did a great job on planting the Shrubs, and the Detachment wants to issue a certificate to the Architect who drew up all of our plans for our new roof.
Scouts: Jordan Clark is up for review for his Eagle Scout, Marine Bob McCarty will let us know when his Court of Honor will be scheduled.
Special Committees: At the Hawaiian Pancake Breakfast, we served 71 meals
Toys for Tots: Marine Ike Rucker received a Certificate for his work with Toys for Tots
Fourth of July: The Smithville July 4th. Parade will be held on July 3rd.
Memorial Day: We had a great turnout for our Memorial Day Ceremonies
Color Guard: We have 2 new members who are coming on board to the Color Guard, Frank Vesley and James Gerlach
Unfinished Business: Marine Bill McGinley needs help on August 25th with Marines to help him with security on the Atlantic City Boardwalk for the yearly Air Show. Volunteers are needed.
New Business: The Detachment voted to adopt a reverse 911 system to notify members in case of an emergency Motion made by : Marine Phil Uecker, Second by: Marine Moe Loveland. The Detachment will send a letter of thanks to the Brigantine ACME for letting us sell roses outside the store for the Memorial Day weekend. We are still waiting to see who will be taking control of Dante Hall so we can move forward on our Ruth Wyand Concert.
Modd: Pound 96 will be hosting a bingo party at the Vineland Veterans home on Sunday July 11th. You do not need to belong to pound 96 to attend
Good of the League: Thanks to Marine James Gerlack for his donations to the Detachment
