PERFORMANCE :

Tickets are almost sold out for the May 20 performance of Carnival of the Animals. If you haven’t yet purchased tickets, be sure to do so now! You can also order a video or DVD by filling out a form in the office. Photos from Photo Day should be ready within a few weeks.



SCHOOL INFO:

We are now accepting registrations for Fall. Classes are filling quickly already!


The last day of class for the current session is Saturday, May 26. The summer session begins June 18 and goes through August 11. Fall classes begin after Labor Day.

STUDENT NEWS:

Caitlin Toms recently won the Talent Competition and was the 3rd Runner-up in the York County Junior Miss Pageant. Caitlin performed the Kitri Variation from Don Quixote for her talent piece. She is receiving $2,500 in scholarship money.

Meaghan Dutton-O’Hara participated in the NYC Finals of the Youth America Grand Prix Competition, after having won 1st place in the Regional Competition. She performed in the “Grand Defile” at New York’s City Center Theater, and was awarded a scholarship to Pennsylvania Ballet’s Rock School.

Aubry Myers was accepted to Atlanta Ballet, and Richmond Ballet’s summer intensive with a 25% scholarship. She also successfully organized and supervised 2 community outreach events (free Angelina Ballerina parties) at Baltimore Ballet.

Kelly Meeder was accepted to the Broadway Artists Alliance Summer Intensive.

Kara Woo was accepted to Princeton Repertory Ballet’s summer intensive.

Rebecca Band was accepted to Walnut Hill, Atlanta Ballet, and North Carolina summer intensives.

Sam Tager was accepted to Princeton Repertory Ballet and Atlanta Ballet’s summer intensive.


FACULTY NEWS:
We are pleased to announce two new wonderful faculty members who will begin teaching at Baltimore Ballet in September: Svetlana Cravtova and Vadim Pijicov.

Svetlana Cravtova is a Russian native. She graduated in the Vaganova syllabus from the Ballet Academy of Republica Moldova, and was a soloist for 20 years with the National Ballet of Moldova. She has many years of teaching experience, including Ballet Internationale of Indianapolis, Ballet Academy Republica Moldova, and Ballet Royale. Her students have won medals in many ballet competitions including the New York International Ballet Competition, and other IBCs in Ukraine, Romania, and top 12 students at YAGP.

Vadim Pijicov graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Ballet in St. Petersburg, Russia. He was a Principal Dancer with the National Ballet of Moldova, the Cosi-Stefanescu Ballet Company, and Ballet Internationale of Indianapolis. He has taught at the National Ballet Academy of Moldova, Ballet Internationale School, dance schools in Italy and Romania, and also teaches at Baltimore School for the Arts.

D’Andrea Green will not be continuing next year at Baltimore Ballet in order to pursue other activities related to dance administration and lobbying. We wish her well!
