STATEMENT OF PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE

This is a regular meeting of the Glen Ridge Board of Education. Adequate notice of this meeting has been provided in that this Board notified the Glen Ridge Paper and the Star Ledger on January 12, 2015. Said notice was published in the Star Ledger on January 15, 2015 and the Glen Ridge Paper on January 22, 2015. The date, time, and location of this meeting were also emailed to all recipients of the annual schedule of the Board's meetings.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the minutes of this meeting be sealed until the matter is resolved.

A-1 Second Reading and Adoption of New and/or Revised Policies and Regulations

Approve the second reading and adoption of new and/or revised policy of the Glen Ridge Board of Education as follows:

P-1 Resignations/Retirements

Accept, with regret, the resignation and/or retirement of the following staff:


a. Kevin Lagos as Instrumental Music Teacher at Glen Ridge High School, effective July 1, 2015.
b. Dr. Jane Petrozzino as LDT-C at Glen Ridge High School, effective April 10, 2015.
c. Elizabeth Banka, School Social Worker, for retirement purposes effective July 1, 2015.
d. Marie Campanali, Secretary of Student Services, for retirement purposes effective July 1, 2015.
e. Tita Capriglione, Bus Driver, for retirement purposes effective July 1, 2015.
f. Anne Curcio, Math Teacher at Glen Ridge High School, for retirement purposes effective July 1, 2015.

P-3 Volunteer

a. Approve Domenic Curfman as a Volunteer Assistant Golf Coach for the Spring 2015 season.
b. Approve Anthony Miscia as a Volunteer Assistant Softball Coach for the Spring 2015 season.
c. Approve Robert Rollo as a Volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach for the Spring 2015 season.
d. Approve Jason Triano as a Volunteer Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach for the Spring 2015 season.

P-4 Reassignment

Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve the reassignment of the following staff:


a. Elyse Trabucco, from Substitute Teacher to Part-time Replacement Physical Education Teacher (replacing Jessica Mahaffey) at Glen Ridge High School at MA step 1 (.5) $28,454.50 pro rated, for the 2014-2015 school year.
b. Kyle Rupinski to a Leave Replacement Teacher (replacing Jackie Cerone) at Glen Ridge High School at BA step 1 ($51,447 pro rated), for the 2014-2015 school year.
P-5 Revised Leave of Absence

Revise the leave of absence for Lauren Foley, Special Education Teacher at Glen Ridge High School returning May 18, 2015 instead of April 13, 2015.


CURRICULUM  
C-1 Field Trips

Approve the following field trip for students for the 2014-2015 school year:



a. Ridgewood Avenue 6th grade students to visit Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in New York City on June 9, 2015 as per the attached. (Exhibit C-1.a)

b. Linden Avenue Kindergarten students to visit Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, NJ on June 3, 2015 as per the attached. (Exhibit C-1.b)
c. Seventh grade students to visit The Great Swamp Environmental Center in Chatham, NJ on April 17, 2015 as per the attached. (Exhibit C-1.c)
d. Glen Ridge High School 9th grade students to attend a performance of Romeo and Juliet at The Pax Amicus Theater in Budd Lake, NJ on May 21, 2015 as per the attached. (Exhibit C-1.d)
e. Glen Ridge High School Chorus and Band to attend a PDQ Bach performance at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, NJ on April 24, 2015 as per the attached. (Exhibit C-1.e)
f. High School Robotics-FTC students (grades 9-12) to attend the FTC State Championship Meet being held at NJIT in Newark, NJ on March 8, 2015 as per the attached. (Exhibit C-1.f)
g. Girl’s Lacrosse Team to visit Crystal Springs Resort in Verona, NJ on March 21-22, 2015 as per the attached. (Exhibit C-1.g)
C-2 Cooperative Sports Program- Ice Hockey

Approve the continuation of the cooperative sports program in ice hockey between the Glen Ridge Board of Education and the Verona Board of Education for the 2015-2016 school year.



BUSINESS 

B-1 Financial Reports

Approve the following financial report as recommended by the Finance Committee: 

Bills list through February 28, 2015 in the amount of $2,637,917.49.
B-2 Workshops/Conferences

Approve attendance to workshops/conferences for the following:


a. The following staff to attend “School Nurses: The Key to Student Success” being held at the Renaissance Woodbridge in Iselin, NJ on March 28, 2015 for a total registration cost of $210.00 each:

b. John Dubuque to attend “New Jersey School Buildings & Grounds Association (NJSBGA) 19th Annual Expo, Safe Sustainable Schools” Conference being held at Bally’s Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ for a total cost of $440.92 (registration $100.00 plus travel/meals $175.00 plus hotel $165.92).
c. Lisbeth Ellersick to attend “24th Annual New Jersey Association of Gifted Children Conference” being held at The Hotel Somerset-Bridgewater in Somerset, NJ on March 6, 2015 for a total cost of $238.95 (registration $219.00 plus travel $19.95).
d. Tim Liddy to attend “The 5th Annual Directors of Athletic Association of New Jersey Workshop” being held at The Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, NJ from March 24 - 27, 2015 for a total cost of $424.00 (registration $350.00 plus travel $74.40).
e. Kim Waldron to attend “The Institute for Brain Potential: Calming An Overactive Brain” being held at the Best Western Regency in Pompton Plains, NJ on March 26, 2015 for a total registration cost of $79.00.
B-3 Out-of-District Placements

Approve the out-of-district placement for student #15007 to attend Montclair High School in Montclair, NJ for a total cost of $25,998.27 (tuition $13,183.00 plus other services $12,815.27) for the 2014-2015 school year.


B-4 Special Education Medicaid Initiative (SEMI) Waiver

Approve the submission of a waiver for the requirement to maximize Special Education Medicaid Initiative (SEMI) participation for the 2015-2016 school year.


B-5 Disposal of Obsolete Item

Approve the disposal of obsolete reading materials that are no longer being used for educational purposes. (Exhibit B-5).


B-6 Transportation Service Agreement for the 2015-2016 School Year

Authorize the Essex Regional Educational Services Commission to coordinate and administer transportation for all applications submitted by the Glen Ridge Board of Education for pupil transportation for the 2015-2016 school year.
