Introduction:Architecture of Indian cities has a very strong historical background and is multilayered. It has been influenced by extremely varied geographical and environmental conditions across the country. It also has a very strong influence of customs and traditions. The cultural diversity has shaped the cities which evolved over the time across the country. So these layers were the reason to develop a particular architectural style which gave the identity to that city. But the Industrialization and globalization had a huge impact on the architecture across the globe. Globalization opened the walls between the countries and people came to know about the foreign culture and lifestyle. The western architecture started dominating the Indian regional architecture. The rapid growth of urbanization resulted in losing the culture and regional identity of the Indian cities. Modernization led to the gradual disconnection with our roots and identity. Regional

give an architectural solution that becomes a model and helps to build identity of the city.
Objective: - To study the culture, tradition and architecture of the selected city.
- To study the impact of globalization in Indian cities.
- To study the importance of urban public space on the surrounding.
- To design public space using regional characteristics with contemporary architecture which gives the identity to the city.
Hypothesis: “Identity of the city can be achieved through regionalism.”

Dictionary Meaning of Keywords Identity:
Identity is whoa person is, or the qualities of a person or group that make them different from others. Image A picture in your mind or an idea of how someone or something is. Globalization The process by which businesses or other organizations develop international influence or start operating on an international scale. Urbanization The process of the formation and growth of cities.
Regionalism Regionalism in architecture is about the context and customs of making buildings in a particular region. These buildings, mainly houses, rely on specific
knowledge of the climate, geology, geography and topography of the region
Historical aspect of the topic The vernacular architecture was mainly based on the climate and topography of the city and this became the characteristic feature of the region and gave the identity to the city.
Contemporary stands on topic There are many buildings which are designed according to the climate with a modern approach and have become the identity to the place. Ex Jawahar Kala Kendra Jaipur, Kala Academy Goa, Bharat Bhavan Bhopal etc.
