The Mechanical Rig is an old system that has a huge number of engines. Each part of the rig has a special engine. This type of rig uses 3 or more big engines to produce power by mechanical mechanism (using a lot of gear boxes and Rotating to transmit the power).
The disadvantages of Mechanical rigs are that they contain a lot of engines, Very Noisy, costly, need a big area and it is not environmental because of the smokes coming out from engines.

Rig types (Electrical & Mechanical) :
The Electrical Rig uses a lot of electrical motors. Each part of the rig has a special electrical motor that runs on DC current (because it is better for controlling motors than AC current), These motors are given power from the Power System Trailer which is used SCR(Silicon Control Rectifier) to convert the current from AC (generators) to DC and leave AC current for Field Motors.
