BeLight Software creates user-friendly solutions for business and personal productivity, desktop publishing, 3D home design, and games. Developed for Windows 10 using Microsoft DirectX technologies, the Live Interior 3D Pro App for Windows helps anyone from amateur decorators to professional interior designers create the living spaces they envision. As a Microsoft partner, BeLight reaches thousands of satisfied customers through the Windows Store, where its app has consistently remained in the Top 5 Productivity Apps.

Whether you want to rearrange your furniture, remodel your home, build a new home, or even revamp your place of business, changing your surroundings can feel intimidating. Maybe you’ve looked at magazines and watched videos to find what you like, but you just can’t envision it in your space. Or maybe you’re an interior designer or an architect who is having trouble helping a client to understand your vision for their room, home, or business.
BeLight Software created Live Interior 3D Pro for Windows to enable people to model their space—whether it’s a room, a house, or a business—in a 3D environment to see how furniture, fixtures, and other applied materials, including color schemes and interior lighting, will look. People draft a 2D detailed floorplan, and then watch as the app automatically builds a 3D rendering of the structure. Offering its own library of more than 1,200 high-quality 3D objects and 1,500 finishes and materials, the app is integrated with Trimble 3D Warehouse, which enables users to import additional free 3D items such as windows, doors, fixtures, and furnishings for their designs. After completing a design, users can create 3D walkthrough videos of their designs, or export designs to popular computer graphics formats.
“Our application is basically a personal design assistant for anyone,” explains Andrew Cherfas, Vice President of Sales at BeLight Software. “The business opportunities are infinite. Live Interior 3D can work as a visualization tool for housing developers to show prospective buyers building materials such as paint, tiles, marble, and more. Furniture designers can show clients how custom pieces will look in their homes. Warehouse managers or shipping companies can build virtual storage to visualize how they’ll arrange containers for efficiency.”
Developing for design
BeLight originally built Live Interior 3D Pro for Apple Mac computers in 2005, but eventually it realized that it had a big opportunity to reach Windows users as well. Cherfas explains, “In 2011, we decided to embrace the Windows platform and port several of our most popular applications to it, because we realized the Microsoft platform would provide a new market and a great opportunity for global sales.”
To create Live Interior 3D Pro for Windows, BeLight developers use Microsoft DirectX APIs such as Direct 2D and Direct 3D, which are used by software applications for visualizations and graphics tasks such as CAD/CAM engineering, part of the app’s most important function. “The big advantage of Microsoft DirectX is the high performance of visualization in 2D and 3D environments,” says Cherfas. “And professional designers who use the app appreciate the rendering speeds because they can create visualizations for clients quickly on the spot, instead of spending days drafting designs.”
BeLight also became a Microsoft Partner in 2011. “We get access to a lot of first-hand information from our Microsoft support team, and we’re also given access to devices for testing, which is a real advantage for ensuring the app will provide the best possible user experience,” says Cherfas.

Available directly from the Windows Store, Live Interior 3D Pro App for Windows is translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese. Cherfas estimates that its latest version has over 12,000 users—and a free version of the product released by BeLight received more than one million downloads. Since its release on the Windows Store in July 2014, Live Interior 3D Pro has been in the Top 5 apps in the Productivity category, and it reached number seven among all apps.
BeLight intends to release Live Interior 3D Pro Version 3.0 in 2016, and it is currently investigating making the app available on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace to expand the service for customers. “We think that the Azure Marketplace could be a good platform for us to create a service where users can share their interior projects and ideas with each other,” says Cherfas.
