Future Opportunities/Prioritizations
Field Testing Issues
Jimmie Tanner has experienced issues with breaking cylinders.

  • Compressive Strength Testing

  • PSI Levels

  • Grinding & Capping

Financial Responsibility Issues

  • Contract language – “in general accordance”

  • If General Contractor incurs cost the responsibility falls to the concrete producer & the lab

    • Language – concrete producer “manages testing on behalf of the GC”

Possible Field Testing Solutions
Discussed drafting a letter to testing labs using the GSFIC approved labs list.

  • Code amendment change notification

  • Proper protocol list

Empower Licensing Boards

  • Take away PE license of improper testers

Get General Contractor buy-in from the AGC

  • Let them know that testing is not meeting code

Discuss testing in pre-pour meetings, including financial responsibility

Driver Retention Solutions
Jimmie Tanner shared that he has contacted larger companies and hired out of their pre-screened HR pool of applicants that they did not hire and has had large success with retaining them. They already have their commercial driver licenses and are easy to train and have the social skills that ensure a successful employee.
Technical Schools – HOPE eligible?
College Career Day at local high schools

  • Drive interstate at age 18

  • Develop loyalty for three years & then start driving at 21

Westside Works Construction Ready Program

  • Track students that fall off of the construction ready program & turn them to the driver ready program

    • Pros: already construction-minded & have a construction background

Surveys & Information
Fleet Benchmarking survey send out in May to have information to share at Annual Meeting.
Design Assistance Program
Extremely underutilized. Parking Lot design assistance could be used, have seen many examples of poor concrete parking lot design.
Open Forum
Bill Davis - CSA Audit for one at fault accident.
Jimmie Tanner - Washout – Better Practices for Returned Concrete.
Ryan emphasized how critical it was to attend committee hearings on the Manufacturing Exemption bill. Will send out communications asking for volunteers to attend the meetings to show that this issue is a priority to our industry.
