Silva, J. M. C. & Tabarelli, M. Tree species impoverishment and the future flora of the Atlantic forest of north-east Brazil. Fruit-eating birds recorded in the Atlantic Forest of north-east Brazil. Fruit-eating species that has a high proportion of invertebrates in their diets (e.g., several flycatchers) were excluded. This list is based on literature, ornithological collections and personal observations by José Maria C. da Silva. Gapes are classified as narrow (N: <15 mm) and wide (W: >15 mm). Habitat is classified as edge (E) and forest interior (F). Vulnerability (L= Low; M= Medium, and H= High) is based on an independent classification by D. F. Stotz, J. W. Fitzpatrick, T. A. Parker III & D. K. Moskovits. Neotropical birds: Ecology and Conservation, (The University of Chicago Press, Chicago, 1996).
