GUIDANCE


  • FAU will be here on October 13th during Power Hour in the Auditorium.




  • SENIORS: LSSC is hosting LAKEHAWK PREVIEW DAY on Nov 5th at the Leesburg Campus starting at 10 a.m. Seniors that attend can have their application fee waived and attend workshops including Degrees/Majors/Financial Aid and Mock Classroom Presentations. Refreshments are included and there will be a Spanish Speaking Panel.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES





  • First United Methodist Church of Tavares is looking for high school student volunteers who may need community service volunteer hours to help with their afterschool program on Wednesdays at their campus. They have approximately 40 kids from Tavares Elementary School who are bussed over from 2:15-5:15 each Wednesday. They provide tutoring to all students, snacks, Bible lessons, arts and crafts and recreation. Please contact Pamela Post at 343-2761.

1997 - The 103rd convention of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) was held in New York City, NY. The official debut of the DVD format was featured.
2000 - The U.S. Federal Drug Administration approved the use of RU-486 in the United States. The pill is used to induce an abortion.
2004 - The U.S. Federal Reserve and the U.S. Secret Service introduced the first newly redesigned $50 bill.
2004 - Nate Olive and Sarah Jones arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border to complete the first known continuous hike of the 1,800-mile trail down the U.S. Pacific Coast. They started the trek on June 8.
