Principal’s Corner
Greetings Parents! Have you heard the great news?
Booker T. Washington's Early College students earned the second highest SAT scores in Atlanta Public Schools! What a great accomplishment for our students! Early College is an excellent program that allows students to earn college credit while still in high school. All college expenses (tuition and books) are free! We even provide free transportation to the college! Our ultimate goal is for students to graduate from high school with not only a high school diploma, but also an Associate's Degree! If you are interested in getting your child enrolled in this great opportunity, please call Ms. Tiffany Stembridge-Taylor at 404-802-4664. Thanks for your continued support!

Kudos to Mr. Howard’s World Geography class! His 1st, 2nd, and 3rd block classes are getting fundamental hands-on training on accessing the APS district’s 2,200 eBooks, as well as live tutor access through Tutor.com! Students are also encouraged to obtain a free Atlanta Fulton Public Library card.
This year the ninth and tenth grade Math classes have restructured so that the students have different teachers for the core and the support classes. This month we highlight the work of the support teachers who are doing an excellent job in remediating deficiencies in pre-requisite knowledge for the GSE Algebra, and the Analytic Geometry classes and assisting students in developing mastery in their current classes. Students are provided with blended learning experiences where they work online using IXL.com, USAtestprep.com, and Khan Academy in addition to receiving individual and group support from the assigned teachers. We are very excited about this new initiative and expect to see improvement in the student’s academic performance in their math classes. Parents, please ensure that your students are making use of the online resources while they are reviewing at home, these websites can be accessed from any device which has internet access.
The Educator Highlight for the Science Department and the 2015- 2016 BTW Teacher of the Year is Dr. Uzochukwu. She began her teaching journey in 1989 in New York. She started teaching at the historical Booker T. Washington HS in 2009. She prides herself on not only motivating students to learn, but teaching them how to learn, and doing so in a manner that is relevant, meaningful, and memorable. Her specialty is Physics and in her spare time she enjoys designing things and sewing. She is truly an inspirational teacher and it has been a pleasure to work with her at Washington HS – way to go Dr. Uzochukwu!!!!
