Andrew Brandt, ESPN: There's no signing bonus. Manning will get $18 million guaranteed for next season… Manning will be paid $20 million in both the 2013 and '14 seasons… He is scheduled to make $19 million in both '15 and '16.
Andrew Brandt, ESPN: Manning will undergo what is termed a “postseason physical” 10 days before the start of the 2013 League Year, sometime in late February or early March. In the event Manning passes that physical, he will activate a $40 million guarantee, paid out as $20 million salaries in both 2013 and 2014. The Broncos will have further protection with an injury waiver to Manning’s neck for these two years. In the event Manning suffers an injury that is related to his C-6/C-7 cervical spine fusion “and related pathologies,” the Broncos will be able to reduce the guarantee for the following year. For example, were Manning to suffer an injury in Week 10 of 2013 related to his neck injury, the Broncos would pay the rest of the 2013 salary, but not be on the hook for 2014. Manning is scheduled to make $19 million in both 2015 and 2016. The amount becomes guaranteed when Manning passes his physical prior to the start of each League Year. This is similar to the guarantee above, although on a year-to-year basis rather than the two-year guarantee of 2013-2014.
Mike Florio, PFT: Manning’s original deal contains a $5 million salary advance of 2013 pay and a $5 million salary advance for 2014 compensation. The league initially didn’t treat the advances as signing bonuses, which gets prorated. The new deal, which didn’t change the payments or the structure of the deal, prompted the NFL to treat the payments differently. As a result, the league has applied the $10 million in salary advances in $2.5 million equal chunks over the final four years of the contract. The cap numbers for 2013 and 2014 have dropped from $20 million to $17.5 million, and the cap numbers for 2015 and 2016 have jumped from $19 million to $21.5 million.
Jeff Legwold, ESPN: Manning had his base salary trimmed from $19 million to $15 million and will have the chance to make that $4 million back with incentives if the Broncos go on to win the Super Bowl -- a $2 million incentive for a win in the AFC Championship Game to go with a $2 million incentive for a win in the Super Bowl.

1997 CUT Post

Joseph Sanchez, Denver Post: the San Diego Chargers decided not to match Denver's four-year, $ 10.4 million offer for Miller… Miller's contract will pay him a $ 2.4 million signing bonus, a $ 900,000-$ 1 million salary this year, $ 1.7 million in 1995, $ 2.4 in '96 ($ 1 million of which is guaranteed) and $ 3 million in '97 ($ 1 million of which is guaranteed). He is protected against any trade this year and has the right to approve any trade in the final three years.
Brian Allee-Walsh, Times-Picayune: Miller, a transition player, signed a four-year, $10.5 million offer sheet with the Broncos. The contract calls for Miller to make annual salaries of $1.1 million in 1994, $1.8 million in '95, $2.4 million in '96 and $2.8 million in '97, plus a $2.4 million signing bonus… Miller's contract features several clauses that Broncos officials hope will scare San Diego off: A no-trade clause in the first year of the contract. In years two, three and four of the contract, Miller can only be traded with his consent. Miller also has a say in where he could be traded. If Miller waives the no-trade clause, he is permitted to select 15 teams that he could be traded to. Miller also is guaranteed $1.6 million of his $2.8 million salary in '97.
Brian Broderick, Denver Post: The Broncos rewarded him by renegotiating his original four-year, $10.4 million deal. He's receiving a $2.9 million signing bonus and a $1.1 million salary for the 1996 season.
Adam Schefter, Denver Post: Miller is scheduled to make $1.3 million in base salary this season from Denver… Last February, the Broncos gave Miller another $2.9 million renegotiation signing bonus… once they release Miller, he will count $1.325 million against Denver's cap this season and another $1.45 million next season.
