Writ of error to Escambia Co. Circuit Court from Florida Supreme

Court, January term, 1911.

Charles W. Sutherland, a bricklayer, was electrocuted at the mill

of H. G. DeSilva & Co., and his widow received a judgment of $16,000.

The Supreme Court ordered a new trial.

Florida vs. L. & N. (The State of Florida ex rel. Railroad Commissioners,

relators, vs. Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company and the

Seaboard Air Line Railway, respondents.) 62 Florida Reports 315 369.


Original jurisdiction, Florida Supreme Court, June term, 1911.

The commissioners ordered the railroads to discontinue hauling

freight and to provide faster service between Pensacola and

Jacksonville. The railroads protested the order, citing its effect

upon citizens in West Florida communities. The Court held the

commissioners' order was unjust and not authorized by law.

upheld the commissioners' order discontinuing certain Freight

schedules to Pensacola.

Cary, age 17, married Maggie, age 15, but obtained a divorce

when she moved back to her parents. The lower court decision was

reversed.

Railroad Company, a corporation, appellant, vs. H.V. Maund, appellee.

Appeal from Jackson County Circuit Court to Florida Supreme

Court, June term, 1911.

The railroad constructed a right of way through Maund's lands.

He was awarded a lower court verdict, but the Supreme Court reversed

the decision and dismissed the case.

Writ of error to Jackson Co. Circuit Court from Florida Supreme

Court, January term, 1911.

Dekle and others were selected at a mass meeting of citizens to

collect subscriptions in support of the new railroad, Marianna and

Blountstown. Messer subscribed but refused to pay because the line

had not been completed. The lower court judgment was reversed.

Miss Charbonier gave an option to Arbona to purchase certain property to be used as a barroom. The lower court judgment was

affirmed.

Court, June term, 1912.



Collins, a black, was indicted for the murder of Dan Hansford in Calhoun County. His trial was removed to Jackson County and he was

later removed for safekeeping to Tallahassee and Jacksonville. The

lower court refused to grant another change of venue, and this judgement was affirmed.

Supreme Court, January term, 1912.

Miss Austin went on the company's wharf to get a package

shipped on the steamer "Tarpon" She was injured and obtained a lower

court judgment, which the Supreme Court reversed.

Appeal from Escambia Co. Circuit Court to Florida Supreme

D. Hale Wilson transferred Scott's note to Mrs. Taylor. Scott's security, three lots in the New City tract, were cancelled without her knowledge. The lower court judgment was affirmed.

Mrs. Gipson's husband, C. G. Gipson, was killed in an accident at

the company's sawmill on the Choctawhatchee River. She was awarded damages by the lower court and the judgement was affirmed.

Supreme Court, June term, 1913.

McMillan won a lower court judgment in ejecting Boley and others

from property in the Domingez grant described in a deed from the heirs

of Rebecca Waters. Because of an indefinite description of the

property, the lower court judgment was reversed.
