Relationship between Skill Students Acquire after an Entrepreneurship Education Course and Self-Productivity

The reason for this finding may be attributed to the fact that undergraduate students used for this study have high need for self-productivity which is imparted through entrepreneurship education. As Okifo and Ayo (2010) puts it, that entrepreneurship education changes the orientation and attitude of the recipients who in the process acquire skills and knowledge to enable him set up and manage a business enterprise, to become self productive and alleviate poverty. Again, McClelland (1965) in his need for achievement theory postulated that the ability to make good judgment about the future leads an individual to become a successful entrepreneur.

According to McClelland (1965) there is a strong tie between need for achievement, self-productivity and entrepreneurial activities in the society where the average level of need for achievement is relatively high. It is therefore possible from the findings that the respondents used for this study have being sufficiently motivated to have high need for achievement in life through entrepreneurship education hence the tendency for them to set up their own business after graduation thereby becoming self-productive.
