Hardees Information and History

Over the past decade, Hardees Restaurants have made strong efforts to develop high-quality products to sell in their restaurants, as well as to provide the best experience for their customers. Advertising is also a major focus of the company. Below are some of the products and advertising efforts that make Hardees the restaurant they are today:


Product Information:
Breakfast:

  • Hardee’s has a wide variety of breakfast options, which has always been a central focus of the company since it began in the 60s.

  • The breakfast menu has barely changed over the years, and still remains one of the most profitable sectors of the restaurants revenue, responsible for roughly 40 percent of the company’s earnings.

  • Hardee’s breakfasts are particularly popular amongst the elderly demographic in the southeastern United States, with the average age of breakfast customers being 45.

  • Hardee’s remains one of the few restaurants that has maintained their southern style roots. Their breakfast reflects this style by offering a multitude of biscuit variations. They have a wide range of combinations using meats such as bacon, steak, chicken, sausage and ham.

Lunch and Dinner:

  • Following the same model of originality they have continued with breakfast since the 60s, in the past decade Hardee’s has reintroduced their Thickburger line of products.

  • These char-broiled burgers model after the original favorites of the restaurant, and have a wide-range of combinations and toppings ranging in size from ¼, 1/3, and 2/3 pound burgers.

  • Their most popular side is French fries, which come prepared in a variety of sizes. Hand-breaded chicken is also a household favorite of the restaurant.

Global/International Presence:

  • Hardee’s Restaurants have a variety of locations in the Middle East as well. These include: Pakistan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt

  • The Middle Eastern menu is different from the restaurants of the United States. These locations sell more products familiar to the Hardee’s of the 80s and 90s, and do not sell the Thickburger product lines.


Advertising/Marketing Opportunities:


  • The Thickburger Campaign has been a very original and different one from more traditional restaurant advertising campaigns. The Thickburger has showed many commercials of unappealing eating habits of adults stuffing a burger in their mouth, and showing off their products.

  • They have also had a variety of controversial advertisements with women wearing bikini’s, and acting in a very sexual manor with their burgers in the scene.

  • In the 1980s and 90s, Hardees heavily sponsored a number of NASCAR Winston Cup drivers, although does not have much current involvement with the sport.

Hardee’s is found in many collegiate basketball stadiums around the Atlantic Coast Conference, including North Carolina State’s home, PNC Arena. This brand is widely recognized around the conference, and has a strong position in the North Carolina market across the state, both where the company was founded and headquartered for its first forty years. This would be a very beneficial and exciting brand to have as a leading sponsor at the 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament in Greensboro.
