<888> 03/13/14 Thursday 4:35 P.M.  When I first got on the internet 20 years ago after working with personal computers three years before, I thought some of the hundreds of people that I had met on my five trips to Europe over the years might want to communicate.  Alas I never heard from any of them, so I guess I was just another tourist from their viewpoint.  I also met quite a few Europeans, when I lived in Manhattan on and off for ten years until 1982 and frequent visits for ten years after that.  CIO

<888> 03/13/14 Thursday 4:25 P.M.  I put clean linens on the bed.  I started two loads of laundry, and I have 10 minutes to go on the wash cycles.  I threw out the garbage and the old periodical literature.  I watered the plants.  CIO

<888> 03/13/14 Thursday 3:30 P.M.  I was inspected, and I passed inspection.  It was suggested that I downsize some of the items in my apartment, but since they are expensive items, I am not sure how I would go about it.  I have a friend who might come out in April 2014 that would help me get rid of the old big CRT television sets.  We are not allowed to place items out by the dumpster anymore.  I am afraid to drive into the nearby dump, since one might get flat tires from nails and other debris that fall on their roadway.  The good news is that there is now a www.geico.com app for the Windows 8 Nokia GoPhone.  It works just fine, but unlike the television commercial, it says it is not good for proof of insurance ID on an automobile.  CIO

<888> 03/13/14 Thursday 11:50 A.M.  In the old days when gasoline was cheaper, one could drive up to Norwalk, Connecticut 15 miles to the east of use and browse the discount outlet stores.  Alas CompUSA is no longer there anymore.  Of course, one never knows what one might find at Walmart or whatever else is up there.  Of course the government does not think that disabled people should have too much money to travel around, so the government only lets them have enough money to stay home and read and possibly watch television if they can afford cable TV by cutting back on their food budget.  I think the disabled people should have a March on Washington, but obviously they can not afford to travel that far.  I found this chart http://www.ssa.gov/oact/STATS/dibStat.html that shows how many other people are in the same boat http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/poverty/report/2013/05/30/64681/the-facts-on-social-security-disability-insurance-and-supplemental-security-income-for-workers-with-disabilities/ .  Still I do the best to make ends meet.  CIO

<888> 03/13/14 Thursday 11:25 A.M.  I threw out the garbage.  I guess we are still in the North Country.  It is 19 degrees Fahrenheit outside right now.  Tonight, there will be a low of 13 degrees Fahrenheit.  There is no point in facing the Tundra on Greenwich Avenue, since the 4.7 miles of gasoline to go downtown and back, is enough to keep one warm and comfortable at home all day.  I guess those people who live within easy walking distance of Starbucks can sit out downtown and watch the Nordic people go about their simple village routines.  There is not too much new to do on the internet without spending money, so I just maintain my home office as best as I can afford.  I suppose the warm weather people down south will not be returning to this area until around June 1, 2014.  They usually leave after the end of the hurricane season in the end of November, and do not try to endure the colder winters.  Thus they make money on both ends of the warmer weather as they travel back and forth.  CIO

<888> 03/13/14 Thursday 10:20 A.M.  I will now shower and clean up.  CIO

<888> 03/13/14 Thursday 10:10 A.M.   I ordered ten http://www.cablestogo.com/product/50035 for $1.13 each and ten http://www.cablestogo.com/product/50020 for .47 each for $16 and $10.69 shipping for $26.69 total.  CIO

<888> 03/12/14 Wednesday 6:05 P.M.  I had a problem with the FIC server today.  I tried restoring the backup a few times, but that did not work.  I finally opened up the case, and I put in a new primary IDE cable on the first hard drive.  I also cleaned the vents on the CPU cooler, and I installed a new fan on it, since the old fan was dirty.  That solved the problem of the FIC shutting down frequently.  I got the HIPO weather station working.  I am now installing the Windows updates.  Earlier I went out for a walk around the building.  I chatted with a relative.  I just now sat outside for a while and chatted with a neighbor.  I picked up the mail.  CIO

<888> 03/11/14 Tuesday 4:55 P.M.  I threw out the garbage.  I mailed my food stamps form at the Valley Road Post Office.  I went downtown.  I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I sat out at various locations.  I used the bathroom at the Senior and the Arts Center before and after my walk.  It looks like they are almost though redecorating the downstairs lobby of the senior and the arts center, and they have also put in new bathrooms and carpet.  During my walk, I toured CVS.  There were a lot of older people out and about on a warmer day.  They all looked like they were getting the kinks out of their bones from their winter hibernations.  After my walk, I went by the Stop and Shop.  I bought a reduced price 12.5 ounce can of Planters Mixed nuts for $3.64, buy one get one free of Perdue grill chicken strips Italian for $5.99 both, a 24 ounce Simply Mashed mashed potatoes for $2, a 15 ounce Smart Balance Omega spread for $3, a four pack of day old muffins for $2 for $16.63 total.  I then returned home to the Byram neck of the woods.  I picked up my mail.  I put away my groceries.  CIO

<888> 03/11/14 Tuesday 9:25 A.M.  I threw out the garbage.  I chatted with a neighbor.  I was told yesterday that Pepperidge Farm in Norwalk, Connecticut moved out of their old baking facility in Norwalk to a new baking facility in Brookfield, Connecticut.  Yes, Arnold still bakes bread and other bakery products in Buyrum, Connecticut.  However, recently Thomas' English muffins have been getting very expensive.  I have even a lot of English muffins in my life, but I do not feel like paying $4.59 a six pack.  The A&P Fresh has Thomas' English muffins for $1.99 a six pack.  They use to sell them buy one six pack get two free or a 12 pack for $1.99.  Maybe we should have the Archbishop of Canterbury bless the English muffin factory.  CIO

<888> 03/10/14 Monday 10:25 P.M.  I picked up the mail.  A neighbor stopped by and gave me the $11 for the Netgear wireless part I sold him.  We chatted for a while about the price of tea in China.  He told me the Super Stop and Shop on the Stamford Old Greenwich border sells gallons of green tea for $1.59.  However, it would cost $10 round trip to drive over there and back.  I chatted with a relative.  I will forgo my email for now.  I will now shut down the primary work computer.  I will eat one of the 5 ounce home made yogurts.  I will then go to bed.  CIO

<888> 03/10/14 Monday 1:00 P.M.  I chatted with a relative.  To replace the rear window wiper on the 2005 Volvo XC 70 wagon, I ordered http://volvopartslisle.com/OEM-Volvo-Part-Number-30663894-Wiper-Blade for $13.51 and $6 standard shipping for $19.51 total.  CIO

I went ahead and made my first of four payments for my www.geico.com automobile policy starting April 8, 2014 and running until October 8, 2014.  Paying bills ahead of time is like saving money.  Since one can not spend it on something else that one does not need.  CIO

<888> 03/10/14 Monday 11:00 A.M.  I threw out the garbage.  I went by CVS at 644 West Putnam Avenue, and I bought three 12 packs of Sprite soda for $10 and $1.80 can deposit for $11.80 total.  I then went by the Chase Bank ATM at 19 West Putnam Avenue.  I then went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I stopped by CVS, and I used the bathroom.
