Purpose: The scholarships are intended to enable Australian artists to further their studies in the visual arts overseas.

Eligible applicants: Students currently enrolled in a “visual arts program” at an institution of higher education in Australia, who have successfully completed at least 2 years full time (or equivalent part time) or graduates (of not more than 5 years’ standing at the date when applications close) of a “visual arts program” at an institution of higher education in Australia. Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

ARTS QUEENSLAND – ARTS BUSINESS INNOVATION FUND (ABIF)

Funds available: The fund is a $1 million investment, distributed as matched funding through equal combination of grants and zero interest loans.

Closes: ABIF is a rolling fund, with applications accepted at any time.

Purpose: To support innovation to strengthen income generating and entrepreneurial capacity in not-for-profit arts and cultural businesses. To strengthen not-for-profit arts businesses financially and operationally by responding to innovative business ideas that will achieve an organisation's mission into the future.
Eligible projects: The ABIF initiative is for business innovation that increases the sustainability of the operation, ideally creating new income streams outside of the existing activities of the organisation. ABIF is not designed to substitute for investment in facilities and assets as part of normal business operations including core maintenance and upgrades. ABIF will invest in a range of business development initiatives including those in the following areas:

  • Product and service development that directly generate new and ongoing income streams for the organisation

  • Digitisation of a product or service to enhance organisational and market development

  • Asset development, such as refurbishment of facilities or investment in new equipment to enhance business development

  • Collaborative business practice, where two or more organisations work together on product, service or asset development to build their business revenues and organisations

Eligible applicants: Queensland based, not-for-profit arts organisations with a registered and current ABN and deductible gift receipt (DGR) status. Applicants must be able to demonstrate direct benefit to Queenslanders through arts and culture by delivering on Queensland government objectives for the community.

ARTS QUEENSLAND – INDIGENOUS REGIONAL ARTS DEVELOPMENT FUND

Purpose:
The program provides funding for the development of arts and cultural activities that support economic growth, keep culture strong, and create jobs for Indigenous artists and project managers.

Eligible applicants: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and arts workers in regional areas and their local councils. Indigenous communities are invited to make an application for funds, which are then assessed by a panel and at least one industry expert on Indigenous art and culture.

Eligible projects: Individual professional development; new work, exhibitions and productions; industry and business development; and cultural engagement and development.

ARTS QUEENSLAND – INDIVIDUALS FUND

Purpose: The Individuals Fund is for individual artists and cultural workers (emerging and established) to participate in transformational professional and career development opportunities.

ARTS QUEENSLAND – ORGANISATIONS FUND

Funds available: The minimum amount that can be applied for through the Organisation Fund is $60,000.

Closes: From 2017 the Organisations Fund is a quadrennial fund providing four-year (2017 – 2020) funding for small to medium Queensland-based arts organisations. Currently closed.

Purpose: The Organisations Fund provides quadrennial funding to small to medium organisations. This Fund is for outstanding arts and cultural organisations that aim to collectively achieve the objectives of:

  • A leading group of arts organisations with demonstrated public value

  • Delivery of diverse, high quality arts products and services for and from Queensland

  • Strong partnerships and connections with broader industries, communities and business

  • Employment and promotion of Queensland artists and arts workers.

Eligible projects: Operational funding. Applications seeking an investment of $60,000 or more per annum are encouraged from organisations that can strongly demonstrate their ability to deliver the highest quality arts and culture programs for the benefit of Queensland.

Eligible applicants: All applicants must:

  • Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)

  • Be not-for-profit, non-government organisations or a Queensland-based incorporated association or company

  • Have satisfied the reporting requirements of any previous
    Arts Queensland funding; and

  • Not be in receipt of Arts Queensland major organisations, administered or statutory body funding.

ARTS QUEENSLAND – PLAYING QUEENSLAND FUND

Funds available: There is no minimum or maximum funding limit please see funding guidelines.

Closes: Applications can be submitted at anytime.
Purpose: The Playing Queensland Fund supports the delivery of performing and visual arts projects that are ready to tour and have demonstrated community interest and confirmed demand.

Eligible applicants:

  • Artists, companies and groups with tour-ready work.

  • Commercial, semi-commercial, professional/amateur (pro-am), community-based amateur groups and subsidised arts companies with tour-ready work.

  • Community representatives, local presenters or venue/gallery managers interested in purchasing and receiving touring work.

  • International and interstate touring artists.

  • Individual agents, producers, curators and brokers.

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Organisations, artists and arts and cultural workers are encouraged to apply.

Eligible projects: Funding can be sought for investment towards any part of the touring activity; however the net touring costs of your budget may be prioritised for funding. Net touring costs may include: accommodation, touring party per diems (travel allowance), travel, transport costs, freight, exhibition installation and dismantling costs, vehicle hire, equipment hire etc.

ARTS QUEENSLAND – QUEENSLAND ARTS SHOWCASE PROGRAM (QASP) – ARTS IGNITE

Purpose: QASP provides funding to support individuals, organisations or collectives to deliver vibrant and accessible arts and cultural experiences for Queensland. Arts Ignite supports the creative development and public presentation of new works that respond to demand. The fund intends to cultivate new and emerging talent and extend artists and/or organisations’ practice, audiences and markets.
Ineligible projects:
Planning for or maintenance of infrastructure, capital or equipment costs, fundraising activities, awards, competitions, eisteddfods or prizes, costs associated with conferences, research or core business activities, including business start-up costs, administrative and other organisational costs not directly associated with the project or program.

Eligible applicants: Applicants must:

  • Be based in Queensland or show how the project will directly benefit Queensland arts and culture

  • Have satisfied the reporting requirements of any Arts Queensland funding received in the past

  • Not be in receipt of Arts Queensland major organisations, administered or statutory body funding

  • Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)

  • Organisations already receiving Arts Queensland investment (through the Organisations Fund) must demonstrate how this project or program differs from what they are currently funded to deliver

  • For an individual, be over 18 years of age or have their application co-signed by their legal guardian confirming they will take responsibility for managing any funding that may be offered to the applicant.

  • Not have already been awarded funding under this Program in the same calendar year.

  • Not have already submitted an application to the Program which is currently undergoing assessment.

  • Not be a current Arts Queensland employee or former employee who ceased employment less than six months before applying.

Purpose: QASP provides funding to support individuals, organisations or collectives to deliver vibrant and accessible arts and cultural experiences for Queensland.

Arts Illuminate supports Queensland communities to engage high quality national and internationally renowned artists to present unique arts and cultural experiences that will engage the community.



The fund supports the development local capacity of the arts and cultural sector, through collaboration with acclaimed artists to cultivate local talent and deliver legacy outcomes.

Ineligible projects: Planning for or maintenance of infrastructure, capital or equipment costs, fundraising activities, awards, competitions, eisteddfods or prizes, costs associated with conferences, research or core business activities, including business start-up costs, administrative and other organisational costs not directly associated with the project or program.

Eligible applicants: Applicants must:

  • Be based in Queensland or show how the project will directly benefit Queensland arts and culture

  • Have satisfied the reporting requirements of any Arts Queensland funding received in the past

  • Not be in receipt of Arts Queensland major organisations, administered or statutory body funding

  • Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)

  • Organisations already receiving Arts Queensland investment (through the Organisations Fund) must demonstrate how this project or program differs from what they are currently funded to deliver

Arts Impact supports a vibrant and diverse range of original arts and cultural experiences for Queensland communities that drive cultural tourism and/or activate existing community and cultural infrastructure.

Ineligible projects: Planning for or maintenance of infrastructure, capital or equipment costs, fundraising activities, awards, competitions, eisteddfods or prizes, costs associated with conferences, research or core business activities, including business start-up costs, administrative and other organisational costs not directly associated with the project or program.

Eligible applicants: Applicants must:

  • Be based in Queensland or show how the project will directly benefit Queensland arts and culture

  • Have satisfied the reporting requirements of any Arts Queensland funding received in the past

  • Not be in receipt of Arts Queensland major organisations, administered or statutory body funding

  • Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)

  • Organisations already receiving Arts Queensland investment (through the Organisations Fund) must demonstrate how this project or program differs from what they are currently funded to deliver
