Megachile subgenus Cressoniella Mitchell 1934: 302 & 307. Type species: Megachile zapoteca Cresson. Original designation.

Megachile subgenus Cressoniella Mitchell 1935: 42.

Cressoniella subgenus Cressoniella Mitchell 1980: 5, 63.

All 20 species included in the subgenus are neotropical, one of which reaches southwestern U.S.A. Some of the Andean species occur at high altitudes.

FLOWERS. Oenothera, Godetia, Marrubium vulgare and Solanum.

NESTING. Nests in old beetle burrows in dead branches and in the soil. There are about four contiguous cells per nest. Cuts leaves of [Noto]fagus dombeyi and [N.] obliqua.
