Ethics PHIL 2203 NOTES
Translucency Assumption
: “People are neither transparent nor opaque, so their dispositions to cooperate or not maybe ascertained by others, not with certainty, but as more than mere guesswork. We all get taken advantage some of the time, sometimes for even large amounts of utility, but not a significant proportion of the time nor for significant amounts over the long run.
You have a disposition to cooperate or to compete.
Disposition: a very stable personality characteristic. Not unchangeable and permanent like a personality trait.

Translucency enables CMs to
1. recognize each other, such that they can team up and cooperate.
2. Recognize competitors, such that they can avoid teaming up with them and getting screwed.
