F. Objectives
The main objective of this article is to develop and implement in real-time, a novel BLDC motor design having the highest efficiency possible along with increased torque to speed ratio for the same values of input and battery pack densities. The motor is specifically customized for the purpose of retrofitting standard Internal Combustion Engine vehicles/sedans to Electrical Sedans. The project is divided into three major aspects with respect to design, product values and power electronic control modules. The three main categories as listed are i. Design Aspect ii. Product Value (Variation in internal, mechanical and electrical Characteristics) iii. Development of a dedicated Power Electronic Drive.
1) Design Aspect The objective of the proposed project is divided in three different categories of evaluation and Iteration. Anew design of the BLDC motor is the main directive of the project through which the overall design redundancies, heat problems, problems with regard to shape, size and dynamics is eliminated. It is noted that there is keen stress on building the design that is ergonomic, simple and has a plug-and-play feature. It is also, but not limited to, a robust, novel and slick design. is developed as a product specifically for market competition and ergonomics.
2) Product Value Product Value represents the various parameters and constraints of a particular product. Some of the product values considered for
BLDC motors are i. Total, Maximum and Initial Torque Values ii. Total RPM with respect to the torque values. iii. Input and Output Power values (Electrical Input and Mechanical Output ratio) iv. Material Characteristics Iterations on different forms of usable materials) v. Total efficiency of output. To name a few, the basic parameters considered are the product values that undergo iteration in order to support the novel design of the BLDC Motor.
3) Power Module The power electronic drive is the main component that is necessary to drive the
BLDC Motor. Drives are customized to fit the power needs and constraints of the dedicated motor that it has been designed and implemented for. The objective of the power electronic module is to provide the required current to the stator poles in the required coordination that allows for us to tune the speed and direction of the motor. The overall Objective of the project is to design, iterate and power up anew BLDC Motor with an ergonomic design, higher torque to speed ratio and a dedicated/ambidextrous power electronic drive module.
