Analysis of the Audience/Participants
The popularity of a given television series is usually determined by the overall ratings that it receives from the targeted audience. According to Schlegelmilch (2016, p. 63), there are various platforms through which the production team can interact with the targeted audience. Among the common sites through which the popularity of a given television show can be determined, as well as the level of connection that it has with the targeted audience, is the Internet Movies Database (IMDb), which is an online database that has information concerning television programs, films, video games, and internet streams, including their rating (IMDb 2018, ‘IMDb Help Center’, para. 1). The online database also has reviews concerning the productions made worldwide, which means that it is a relevant platform that can be used to determine the level of connection with the target audience.
Vlogs
According to Teijeiro-Mosquera, Biel, Alba-Castro, and Gatica-Perez (2015, p. 193), Vlogs are forms of blogs that primarily contain video content. They are made up of video posts that are also displayed in reverse chronological order in order to ensure that viewers are able to access the most recent materials posted. In addition, they usually touch on specific topics that are carefully chosen by the vlogger, with the aim of maximizing on views, comments, and positive reviews. Most vlogs are usually informative, that is, they touch on important aspects that is deemed interesting, such as politics, sports, and religious ideas, among others. As much as the goal of developing vlogs is to issue information to the targeted viewers, they are gradually transforming into forms of businesses. Based on the reviews, views, and comments that one receives concerning his/her vlog, there are platforms that issue monetary incentives because they also help to create traffic on their respective websites. These incentives motivate the vloggers to post videos that would generate maximum possible traffic.
