Enjoy music and desserts, view original letters and artifacts, and mingle with the Lincolns' friends at this sweet celebration of love in the 19th century. (period clothing encouraged, but keep in mind, during part of the event you will be in theater seating). Blackwater String Ensemble will provide the music.

Anthony Quinn was a prolific artist, creating hundreds of sculptures, paintings, carvings, and sketches throughout his life. Unleash your inner artist, while making new friends, at a paint class with artist Katie Gailas, graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago. Katie will help you create your own unique masterpiece. All materials are provided and drinks will be available.

The story of the Trojan War is perhaps one of the most famous narratives in Greek history. This tour-de-force, performed by Megan Wells, portrays Helen of Troy, the “Face that Launched a Thousand Ships.” Touring nationally, Megan Wells’ original one-woman show is intensely researched from history, literature and mythology surrounding the legendary Trojan War. Find out what it must have been like to live behind a face like that.

A play based on Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex. In this 20-minute version, Oedipus recently becomes king of Thebes and tries to cure the Green Plague while hubristically wielding his newfound power. Presented by The Hypocrites, Oedipus is an adapted play that is part of a modern Festival of Dionysus called All Our Tragic. All Our Tragic is a twelve-hour long adaptation featuring contemporary versions of the thirty-two surviving Greek tragedies compiled into a single epic narrative.

A play based on Euripides’ Iphigenia in Aulis. In this 20-minute version, the Trojan War begins. The Greeks are eager to sail to Troy to start fighting, but their ships won’t sail until a prophet foretells that Agamemnon will kill his daughter Iphigenia. Agamemnon sends for Iphigenia under the pretense of a wedding with Achilles, but theirs is a fate not so pleasant, as marriage awaits Iphigenia.

Everyone dreams. Many find their dream images mysterious and interesting. Making art and poetry from these images helps us understand their messages. Using collage and writing, artist Susan Levin, along with Nancy Gordon, certified in “interactive guided imagery” and poet, Joy Gaines-Friedler will guide participants in a workshop to express dream images in a variety of ways.

All Our Tragic is a twelve-hour long adaptation featuring contemporary versions of the thirty-two surviving Greek tragedies compiled into a single epic narrative. You can watch All Our Tragic in its daylong entirety (12 hours) on Saturdays and Sundays from June 20 to August 9 at Den Theatre Mainstage. An exhibition curated by Leonard Cicero and Heather J. Holbus Intuit is proud to present works from self-taught Armenian American artist Betty Zakoian. Betty was a survivor, a woman of strong will and character, a faithfully religious mother and artist. This exhibition explores the many layers of her story, as witnessed in Zakoian’s autobiographical artworks, to understand the story behind the paintings, to discover the truth of a forgotten or covered up history.

Grab your portable chairs and picnic baskets and join us in beautiful Island Park for the annual Shakespeare in the Park play. The Midsummer Theater Troupe brings the laughs and plays are shortened to 90 minutes, making this an outing that's fun (and appropriate) for the whole family.

RiverPark is the place to be Sunday nights in July to enjoy a variety of performances on the northwest bank of the Fox River. Bring your blankets, cushions, and chairs, and relax on the terrace or the rows of the stone amphitheater along the river. Framed in native prairie grass and wildflowers, the river provides a sparkling backdrop to stellar musicians, actors and singers.

Step back in time and join us as car collectors gather together to show off their rides. The audience comes from near and far to bop to the music of the 50s while they ogle the beauties and vote for their favorite make and model.

Join us for a day of shopping at our juried outdoor gallery of fine art. Victorian homes-turned-businesses in the downtown historic district serve as a picturesque backdrop for the fine arts show. Voted “Best Craft or Art Show” by West Suburban Living magazine, the Geneva Arts Fair will showcase over 150 artists from around the country. Art mediums include photography, pottery, fiber, printmaking, glass, mixed media, watercolor, oil/acrylic, wood, sculpture and jewelry.

Masterful musicians from the South Suburban Dulcimer and Folk Music perform songs on traditional instruments. Twelve Musicians perform and sing.

Louisa May Alcott - Presented by actress Leslie Goddard. She will bring the 19th Century author of Little Women to life.
