The Annual Brazilian Festival of Pompano Beach is a multicultural and grass roots Festival, free admission, and a non profit community event. The event is part of Broward 100, celebrating the region's centennial with bold, innovative art and performance projects that bring Broward residents together.

Members of the Broward Commission on the Status of Women speak to the struggle for women’s rights and its impact on Broward over the last 100 years—noting women who have shaped history. History comes alive in Andersonville when hundreds of Civil War reenactors set up camps and stage two realistic mock battles, the first at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, and the second at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015. Sutlers selling Civil War uniforms and accoutrements and Civil War-era civilian clothing add color and interest, as do craftsmen such as blacksmiths, basket makers, quilters, weavers, and artists of all kinds. Gates open at 10 a.m. both days.

The coastal Georgia town of Saint Marys celebrates its 43rd annual Rock Shrimp Festival with almost 100 food and crafts vendors catering to ten to fifteen thousand attendees. The festival begins with 5K and 10K races followed by a parade and day-long entertainment. The local Kiwanis club cooks dinners featuring the rock shrimp, a variety of shrimp found in Southeastern US waters with a taste and texture similar to lobster.

The new Classic Center Arena is now home to the University of Georgia Ice Dogs and Classic City Rollergirls, but this is just the beginning of all the exciting events we have in store for this arena. The removable ice rink also will allow The Classic Center to host ice entertainment shows and to offer public skating for the holiday season in December. In addition, the new seating allows us to accommodate sporting events with arena-style seating for up to 2,000 attendees.

An exhibition curated by Michael Bonesteel. Intuit presents an exhibition of collages by World War II veteran Richard Saholt (1924-2014) of Minneapolis. Saholt achieved modest fame in the 1990s and early 21st century for creating large-format collages that combined lurid commercial illustrations with powerful words and phrases appropriated from printed magazine and newspapers. Saholt served in the US Army’s Tenth Mountain Ski Troop Division and earned a Bronze Star for bravery, but returned home with post-traumatic stress disorder and was diagnosed with chronic undifferentiated schizophrenia.

Children and adults can experience what it was like to be a passenger on the Underground Railroad. This theatrical experience begins with a skit in which passengers will meet the legendary Harriet Tubman. Then, you will follow Hinsdale blacksmith John Coe on a journey down Salt Creek to Graue Mill. The Underground Railroad actually operated in Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Lyons, Downers Grove, and other nearby towns.

A self-guided pottery tour through some of Illinois's best known pottery studios and sculpture studios. Some of the studios are open just for this weekend allowing visitors a unique view of their kilns, forges, and work spaces with special art exhibits and activities. The artists of Twenty Dirty Hands Pottery Tour are bound together by a love for life in the small towns along the Mississippi River. Come visit each of them at their studios and galleries.

Join us on the fourth Wednesday of each month for a one-hour program followed by one hour of insturctional shooting. Please know that this an intimidation-free club, open to all women at all levels, from those who have never shot through those who are shooting pros. Just join us, learn and have fun.
