CHAPTER THREE

SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND DESIGN METHOD

3.1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter deals with system analysis which is a problem solving technique that decomposes a system into its component pieces for the purpose of studying how well those components work and interact to accomplish their purpose. System design also known as system synthesis is a complimentary problem solving technique that reassemble a systems pieces back into a complete system.

3.2 SYSTEM ANALYSIS
This involves examining the process of the current system with aim of developing a computerized Student Information system that enables storage and retrieval of student particular records and grades effectively and efficiently.

3.2.1 Methodology
This is the techniques used in gathering information or how the system operates. Many techniques are used in gathering information depending on the quality and quantity of the information needs. Interview, observation, research and reading are the technique I used in getting my data; this is because of the qualitative information that is needed.

  1. Interview

This is a verbal conversation between the interviewer and interviewee, were certain question are ask, with the aim of getting some information.

During the interview some staff and students were also interviewed to the faculty.

  1. Observation

Careful observation on manual student information system process and procedure was made.

  1. Research and Reading

One major problem with reading as fact finding tool is that knowing what to read and when to stop. Even so if relevant materials are gotten and read, it gives a good picture of the system requirement needed. Some materials that was used during the course of this project work include the following: textbooks and previous project work.
