Brian St. Pierre

Height: 6-3

Weight: 218

Position: QB

College: Boston College

Drafted: Pick 28 of the 5th round by Pittsburgh
Analysis
Positives: Has a developing upper body frame with muscular legs...Shows decent quickness and fluidity in his set up...Has above average field vision and reads defenses well...Has above average arm strength and good accuracy in the short-to-intermediate areas...Shows touch and placement on his passes...Well-respected team leader...Poised under pressure, with a good feel for the pass rush, showing the mobility to avoid...Has the quickness to be a threat on the run...Good ball handler who is effective carrying out fakes.
Negatives: Despite his good field vision, he tends to force his throws and make questionable decisions (locks on to his primary targets too much)...Mechanics and release quickness are marginal, as he carries the ball numbers-high and tends to sling the ball side arm...Drops the ball to his hip and takes a big windup on his deep tosses...Delivers off his back foot and needs to step into his throws better, as he does not show good accuracy on his deep tosses (too many under- throws)...His timing is only adequate and he too often waits for his receivers to break, causing him to hurry through his progressions rather than looking off...Leads defenders into the passing lane too much and while poised, he prefers to get on the move the instant he feels the pocket is going to collapse.
