Affect Displays: Looking at the language of the body
Adaptors: Behaviors that people use to adapt to stresses and to satisfy personal needs (ex. Tap pens, twist hair, play with jewelry etc.)
The non – verbal codes:
The kinesic code 1: Body movement, gestures (Emblems, Illustrators, Regulators, Affect Displays, Adaptors)
The kinesic code 2: Facial expressions and eye behavior
Paralinguistics: Vocal behavior (how something is said, pitch, volume, speaking rate etc.)
Chronemics and Proxemics (Time and Space): psychological orientation biological time orientation cultural time orientation, psychological: present-oriented person or future oriented person are different (p. 202), different cultures value time differently, public territories we share and control with others, home territories are owned and controlled by individuals, body territories
