Name of assignment or project: World Bank-International Bank for Reconstruction and Development Technical Assistance: Preparation of Preliminary and Detailed Engineering Design, Tender Documents and Environmental Assessment Report for Rehabilitation of M5: Yevlakh– Zagatala–Georgian Border Road (Part of the 600 KM of Magistral Roads of the Republic of Azerbaijan)
Client: World Bank/ Kocks Consult GmbH and the Azer Road Service (ARS), Republic of Azerbaijan
Main project features: The 165 kilometers from Yevlakh–Georgian Border (via Zagatala) road project which entails the preparation of Environmental Assessment Report (EA) presenting the environmental impacts and management issues associated with the rehabilitation of the various sections of road. Part of the EA Report addresses the applicable laws, policies and regulations of the Government of Azerbaijan including (but not limited to) the following World Bank requirements: (1) Operational Policy on Environmental Assessment (OP 4.01, January 1999); (2) Operational Policy Note on Management of Cultural Property in Bank Financed Projects (OPN 11.03, August 1999); (3) Operational Policy on Natural Habitats (OP 4.04); and (4) The Disclosure Handbook (December 2002). An Environmental Management Plan will be included in the EA Report
