Yearbook of the Univ. of Texas, so-called "Texas Literature Number". A number of sections of the yearbook were introduced with brief segments from famous Texas historians of the Old West & the Texas Republic, etc.. Dobie wrote a column of information on each historian. Condition: good. A number of the glossy pages in the rear part of this heavy volume were stuck together at the top corner near the binding. Impossible to separate cleanly, some pages have some abrasion or thinness in that restricted area. Last leaf has a torn chip at that corner 1 1/2" x 1 1/2". There is no loss of text. Additionally, on preliminary page before the above page, is a full page presentation by Mills signed as "Colonel, General Staff U. S. Army Governor's Island, NY Dec. 13th 1910." The presentation is to Robert Ingersoll Brown & in it Mills speaks of the truth of which the author (Dodge) writes. Brown is cited in America's Successful Men of Affairs: The City of New York, by Henry Hall. Laid in are 3 printed pages outlining Mills' military career. He was noted "for gallant services in action against Indians in the San Andreas Mountains, NM (1880) & in the Los Animas Mountains, NM (1882). Vg+ with moderate general wear. A tight copy. Art (last name not known) has made an annotation under the photo frontispiece. Laid in notes from another associate, and a few corrections & annotations in that hand. The bindery confused some Index & Notes pages & to make things easier to read the original owner photocopied a couple of the leaves for correct order insertion. Also, owner explained the binding errors on a two-side handwritten detailed note. Also, several laid in notes by owner. Interesting association copy. Vg in moderately worn dj with large price clip.
